Walk Through The Fire
Released 28th May, 1984Walk Through The Fire was released as a single at the end of May 1984. The song was written by Peter Gabriel and this single version was co-produced with Nile Rogers.
The original version of the track, produced by Peter and engineered by Glenn Tommey, features in the movie Against All Odds, directed by Taylor Hackford, and was also present on the accompanying Original Soundtrack Album. There are also notable contributions to the OST by fellow Genesis cohorts Phil Collins (Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)) and Mike Rutherford (Making A Big Mistake).
The B-side is The Race by Larry Carlton who wrote the movie’s score.
The single first charted in the UK on 2 June 1984, peaked at 69 and stayed in the UK Top75 for 3 weeks.
The original version of Walk Through The Fire is available on the album Rated PG alongside a number of Peter’s other songs from the movies, whilst the single mix and the alternate version of I Have the Touch are available on the digital-only compilation Flotsam and Jetsam.
