Peter’s vision for WITNESS was that the power of visual imagery and storytelling could open the worlds’ eyes to human rights abuse and compel people to take action for lasting change.
He was first introduced to Harry Pearce in the early 1990s, who, with Lippa Pearce and then with Pentagram, imagined a new way creative business could partner with change-makers in the not for profit world.
A powerful partnership between Peter, Harry and WITNESS was born and Harry has been an integral part of WITNESS reaching audiences for over two decades.
An online sale of Harry Pearce’s artwork will culminate with a special auction in London on Wednesday 12 September. It provides an opportunity to purchase rare and single-edition prints from Harry Pearce’s award-winning Eating with The Eyes collection; signed by Harry Pearce and Peter Gabriel.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of the artwork will be generously donated to WITNESS by Harry Pearce.
You can visit the pre-sale exhibition website where you can bid online and purchase limited-edition prints.
WITNESS makes it possible for anyone, anywhere to use video and technology to protect and defend human rights. The organization was co-founded in 1992 by musician and activist Peter Gabriel. For more than 25 years, WITNESS has trained and equipped human rights defenders around the world with video, technology, and the power of storytelling in order to a catalyst for change. Using our techniques, citizen activists have documented evidence of war crimes, changed discriminatory laws, secured justice for survivors of gender-based violence and protected indigenous lands against extractive industries.
Peter and WITNESS salutes and thanks Harry Pearce, WITNESS Advisory Board member and creative advocacy innovator.
