D.I.Y.

Released 22nd May, 1978

D.I.Y. was the only single to be taken from Peter’s second solo album and was released in May 1978.

The song was written by Peter, produced by Robert Fripp and recorded during the second album sessions which took place at Relight Studios, Hilvarenbeek in Holland, and The Hit Factory in New York.

The single cover uses images by Peter Christopherson, shot in New York, that would also appear in the Hipgnosis-designed album.

The single did not chart in the UK.

The single was re-released in the UK in September 1978, with a re-recorded A-side, different B-sides and a non-picture sleeve. The re-recorded version of D.I.Y. and the alternate version of Mother of Violence can both be found on the digital compilation album ‘Flotsam and Jetsam’.

There is no promo video for D.I.Y. but there were some rather cool button badges.
