Parachute Exhibition

From its beginnings, inspired by New Wave subculture, to its position as a veritable international fashion sensation, the Parachute brand from Montreal was recognised from New York to Tokyo for its visionary, bold apparel and innovative concept stores.

The exhibition, Parachute: Subversive Fashion of the ‘80s, at the McCord Museum in Montreal, explores the history of the brand, a go-to label for the likes of Madonna, David Bowie and Peter Gabriel.

Admire the androgynous, avant-garde creations of Parachute through some sixty outfits, including two stage costumes from the personal collection of Peter Gabriel and learn more about the brand through more than 140 archival documents (sketches, advertisements, promotional photographs and images taken in Montreal’s night clubs), exclusive interviews and video excerpts of fashion shows and concerts.

Peter wore a white Parachute jacket during the This Way Up! tour in support of the So album and one of his jackets is included in the exhibition.

The exhibition takes place at the McCord Museum in Montreal, QC, Canada and runs from Friday 19 November 2021 to 24 April 2022.
