Forge Deep Connections to Make Great Things Happen
“Virgin’s charitable arm, Virgin Unite, has an extraordinary leader running it; Jean Oelwang.
Jean gave up a promising career in the mobile phone world for a life serving others and it is quite remarkable how many positive projects she has made or helped to make into a reality, including The Elders.
She always stands behind others, but today her own project and book is launched ‘Partnering: Forge the Deep Connections That Make Great Things Happen’ – an antidote to a disconnected and divided world. The book shows how working with a partner can get things done that would be very difficult solo. She asked if she could use Richard and I in the book. Check it out.” – Peter Gabriel

An extract from the book:
When Richard Branson and Peter Gabriel were building The Elders, they took their mission seriously, but never themselves. “It was a lot more fun doing it with somebody,” Richard said. “I don’t think either of us could have done it on our own. We had an end purpose that was so wonderful that if we could make it become a reality, we were going to give it everything.”
Peter and Richard’s Deep Connection is based on many years of friendship infused with laughter—and frequent pranks. Peter is an extraordinary musician and a visionary full of big ideas. Richard is a successful entrepreneur who focuses on making stuff happen—or, as they often say, “Richard is the screw it let’s do it guy, and Peter is the dreamer.” Over the years, they’ve respected each other’s differences and have brought great joy into each other’s lives.
