This was a similar performance to the one I went to at Bournemouth Winter Gardens; a youth full of hopes and dreams I was! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FBcz3tBH74

dreamed and danced and wrote and sang and played and tried and toiled and failed and loved and lost and lived and died and danced and dreamed and wrote and sang and played and toiled and loved again. It will be lost again but Genesis and Peter have and will be constant much loved companions along the way. They opened a door to a world in my mind that I can never leave nor wish to.

Fine words sapling. Music is time travel, this takes me back from middle age to youth & reminds me of my hopes & dreams; I can chart my life by it.

you are so right desert traveller! Music is time travel. There are so many Genesis and PG songs that have that quality. Fifth of Firth expecially, once it gets to 3:33 I can almost feel a hand pull me back to my teenage days of riding a streetcar(public transport) in Toronto in my school uniform with my sony walkman cassette player attached to my hip and my headphones glued to my head. Dicovering the world of live bands and the magic of music- doing chemistry or math homework on the(thankfully) long ride. ahhh youth!! such hopes, wonder even despair at my peers who couldn't see past the strangeness of the lamb to the magic inside.(plus their older brothers were huge fans which made it weird and creepy to them) Ahh it was like having a secret key to a magical world. beautiful! Thanks desert traveller- I'm there already http://youtu.be/SD5engyVXe0

Nice thread ! I discovered Genesis thanks to my cousin in the early seventies. . . Remembering the many musical Sunday afternoons after the family meal. . . That one brings me back in that time : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaJ9KaY_TY8 Long time ago, many parents gone since then, but I needed such a piece of music just now, as I said goodbye to my mother last Friday. . .

Raelovo -- I am sorry to read about your mother. I hope that you find peace in the days to come, keeping your memories alive and knowing that she'll always be with you, as you'll always be a part of her.

Sorry for your loss, Raellovo. Many parents have gone since the early days of genesis, and that reminds me, to invest time into the living. Since the early days my life led me into town, coming from the country and going back to country to find myself again. I have a good profession, not so easy to get a job there, that implicates my opinion of freedom. Most importend for me is the feeling and more doing something worth doing it. Music is always a way of finding contact to my inner soul- also arts , theatre, close friends and family. When I don't listen to music, I don't listen to myself.

Watcher of the Skies sounds now just as strange and other worldly as it always did, bringing all sorts of images and landscapes to mind. Stimulating stuff. Dear Raelovo, my best wishes to you and your family on the loss of your Mother.
