Hi fellow Lunatics, Yesterday I bought "Genesis Revisited II" from Steve Hackett. Having only listened to the very first six tracks of this double-CD (so still 15 tracks to go), I now even more realize how these old Genesis tunes are carved into my soul, or better into my whole being. To say it in PG terms "it's all over me". It brings back memories when I was 11 years old (now 39 years ago), sitting in my bedroom upstairs, sneekingly listening to "Nursery Crime", my very first Genesis record. Just an album I stole from the large LP collection of my 10-years older brother, not only attracted by the amazing cover, but merely triggered by the nicely framed lyrics and mysterious pictures on the inside. My English was still very poor at that time, and although I completely missed the sense of most of the songs - didn't have a clue what "The Musical Box" was about -, I was completely overwhelmed by the music. That's exactly what happened to me yesterday again, when listening to Steve Hackett's brand new versions on his latest album. I say 'again', because this Genesis addiction hasn't stopped over the years, and it's even getting worse. Everything what comes near to Genesis, Peter Gabriel or Steve Hackett, I need to have it, I need to go and watch it, people think I'm nuts. The point I want to make here is that, with all discussions over the years on this forum with regards PG/PC-area of Genesis, I discovered for myself it is actually the SH-area which was most crucial for "my" Genesis period. I came in with "Nursery Crime" and I left short after "Seconds out", exactly the period in which Steve Hackett glued everything together, not to underestimate the musical contributions of the other band members. Anyway, I am one of these lunatics who is checking out this PG website almost on a daily basis over the last 10 last years but never took actually part of it. Therefore I decided to come out of the Darkness to join this nice place, especially now our man has decided to fill his year with interesting things. My very first post indeed. Kind regards.

Welcome here, Moonlit night! Thank you so much for your wonderful words regarding the old Genesis v. PG era and I must say that you've really put into words some of my own feelings, especially concerning Steve Hackett. Interestingly enough, I remember being more upset about Steve Hackett leaving Genesis than I ever was with PG leaving Genesis. (Don't get me wrong here, I was worried that this band I had fallen in love with -- Genesis -- would cease to exist when I heard that PG was leaving, however, I remember thinking that Phil Collins could just step in as lead singer -- had no idea that would happen). When Steve Hackett left Genesis, I truly was worried that they would then cease to exist because by that time, they had become successful and I've always felt the whole combination (Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Steve Hackett and Phil Collins) was what made Genesis work at that point. Losing SH was a big loss I think (not to take anything away from Darryl Stuermer). I've bought the cd also . . . and believe it or not, I've not yet opened it -- I'm tossing around the idea of making it a gift for someone in my family and then buying myself another one after Christmas. I cannot wait to hear it all (I've heard the promos). Yesterday I saw pre-sale information for Steve Hackett at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA in October -- I'm hoping to make that show and look forward to seeing SH play live again. Hi Pat, I'm glad you've recognized the feeling. Is there's really no way to give that person another gift ? I really wouldn't postpone it till after Christmas to discover this piece of art . Hi Realovo, Thanks for sharing this. Steve in fact mentions it himself in the introduction : "The thrill never really goes away about it". It's always amazing to hear him play "After the Ordeal", a song Tony Banks never really liked. I've seen Steve, John and Roger performing quite a few times, but never in such a cozy place. Looks like a small theater, people nearly sitting on stage. Does anyone where it is ? Anyway Steve seems to know what place to pick when it comes to launching a new product. Just noticed Steve's gig in the Hammersmith London on May 10th is already completely sold out. Would be a good opportunity for Peter to join in, as I think he knows his way around there, especially now Steve decided to play some of the old "Lamb" songs. Not sure if he'll be back from La Plagne by then ,,, Nuts, indeed
