David Rhodes is recording a new album with Charlie Jones and Ged Lynch (the group is now known as "Rhodes"). They're hoping to set up funding through PledgeMusic, a crowd sourcing website. Tony Levin funded his latest album the same way. There's a movie on the site, helping to explain what it's all about. You can contribute anywhere from £8 and up. In exchange for your contribution, you'll get to download the new album when it's complete. Depending on the size of your contribution, there are other great incentives for the taking, from signed copies of Bittersweet all the way up to having the band do a show for you. At certain levels, you can attend a group rehearsal, get a guitar lesson from David via Skype, or receive a credit on the album. There was a custom-made Frudua guitar, but that has already been grabbed. During the recording, David will release updates that will only be accessible to contributors. Right now, there's a live version of "Waggle Dance" you can download (one of the songs for the new album). Very cool stuff! It's great to be able to put some money where my heart is - always happy to help if it means more great music will be made! Check it out: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/5509

Stacey, THANK YOU!!! so very much for this post. As you know, I'm a big DR fan, and certainly a fan of great music and great causes, so you're correct . . . this is a really great deal. I'm checking it all out and will be making my list and look forward to it all. P.S. I know you don't frequent here very much, but it's nice to see you here Stay well, my friend and fellow lunie . . . or perhaps we can come up with a nickname for Rhodes' fans . . . Rhodesters! or just plain old Rhodies! Kind regards,

Pat, many years ago I was dubbed a "Rhodesian". Works for me.

::bump:: Not sure if bumps even work anymore, but I thought I would give it a try. Those of you who know me are aware that I don't throw my support behind anything I don't believe in. DR is doing his best to make an album independent of the record companies, and we can help him do it! A donation as small as 8 pounds (less than $15 U.S.) can make a difference. And the larger your contribution, the bigger incentive you receive back. Check it out - it's a very cool new fund raising model for music - the music fans can now directly help to get the music that we want to hear made. That's a powerful thing! I hope you'll join me in supporting this project! Check it out: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/5509

Still pushing, folks - anyone with $15 can pitch in and help, and the more you put in, the more you receive in return! (Did I mention that as soon as you donate, you can download a brand new song for the new album?) http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/5509

We've reached 80% of funding - only 20% left to go. Don't forget to scrape your pennies together and take advantage of the opportunity to help get this album made *and* receive the download of the record before anyone else does! (By the way - there is now another song available for download. It's a live version of "One Touch" from Bittersweet, A very different arrangement from the one on the original CD.)

Pledged! 81% Where do I find the song download, Stacie?
Mallet 4 December 2012 at 10:36am Posts: 276 (0 today) Status: offline
Don't worry, Stacie!! I've found it. As my Mother still says to me: 'If you open your eyes and look you will see it'

HI Mallet - Glad you found it! There are two up there now: the first one is "Waggle Dance", a song David wrote about watching how his beehives work. The second is "One Touch", which was on Bittersweet, But you can hear that the song have a very different flavor played live with Ged and Charlie than the album version. A little birdie told me that there will likely be another exclusive, pledgers-only song posted sometimes this week or next. It will be another song for the new album, and if it's the one I think it is, it's

Wow, no editing privileges at all? Whoa! Please disregard that post and read this one, which I hope to finish correctly! HI Mallet - Glad you found it! There are two up there now: the first one is "Waggle Dance", a song David wrote about watching how his beehives work. The second is "One Touch", which was on Bittersweet, As you'll hear, the song has a very different flavor played live with Ged and Charlie. A little birdie told me that there will likely be another exclusive, pledgers-only song posted sometime this week or next. It will be another song for the new album, and if it's the one I think it is, it's different from a lot of what we have heard before. I would call it a realistic love song. (Most people who saw DR Trio perform in the past year or so have probably heard the tune.) He's making fantastic music, folks! We just have to make sure to help him get the money together to record and publish it! Give early and give often! The fund is at 85% with a bit of time to go. http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/5509 Can you think of something cooler and more far-reaching that you can do with $15?
The green eyed muse 10 December 2012 at 6:05am Posts: 142 (0 today) Status: offline
Team Rhodes, GO! Almost at the mark folks! Last I checked it was above 75%. Can we get it to 100% and make this album happen? Yes...yes we freaking can!
