I'm sure Peter and his families itineraries are full, but thought it would be fun to come up with ideas. Can be places you've been or have always wanted to go. Perhaps we can make a game of it, but one place or places if you want to blurt a bunch out rather then make daily suggestions or combination there of, does not have to lead to the next place. Of course, my first suggestion would have to be the Everglades. Stop at a visitor center and ask about the canoe tours. The rangers that lead these tours are great and you get an experience of the Everglades you can't get on a tourist airboat tour. It is a good idea to have some canoe experience, but you don't have to be an expert. http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv348/yzenrider/Florida%202011/Canoe%20trip%202/IMG_2287.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv348/yzenrider/Florida%202011/Canoe%20trip%201/IMG_2252.jpg

Nice idea Zen, I would suggest him not to miss the Iguazu falls, and the Perito Moreno Glazier and the moon valley, all here in my country. But as he talks of a year of interesting things, and not only of beautiful things, I would also suggest doing some volunteering, The school my kids went to used to go with the kids to a poor school in a province, they took clothes, and books, and food, but also stayed a week, helping to build new classrooms, or paint, or whatever it was needed then. I always thought it was a great lesson for the kids,

http://www.atlastours.net/jordan/treasury.jpg Petra, Jordan Petra is the treasure of ancient world, hidden behind an almost impenetrable barrier of rugged mountains, boasting incomparable scenes that make it the most majestic and imposing ancient site still-standing nowadays.. It has been said "perhaps there is nothing in the world that resembles it", actually, for sure, there is nothing in the world that resembles it. The rock-carved rose-red city of Petra is full of mysterious charm, it was "designed to strike wonder into all who entered it".

As I first suggested tom my brother and sister-in-law, for their Honeymoon spot- always thought any small island off the coast of Thailand would be amazing to visit! They chose Turks and Caicos (which is awesome too), but I would love to sit in a hammock on a Thai beach, eating amazing food - that's one for my bucket list!

OK, a bit late to reply, but very cool stuff Meme. Would so love to get down there and see some of those places. Jared, good food only adds to a trip anywhere. Page, didn't they use that in one of the Raiders movies? Ayla, the ice hotel looks cool. Almost too cool. brrrr Um, er, but how does one shower in an ice hotel?

Yep, in that Raider's movie, beautiful place - I would like to suggest that Peter visit Bob Ezrin at his Nimbus Studio and beg Bob on bended knee to produce his next cd, and that PG records it at Nimbus - that would shake things up for him and Bob would make him work, even if he has to lock Pete in a closet like he did last time Also he could visit his namesake island - Gabriola Island - lots of artists, musicians and aging hippies live there - it's got a good creative vibe and its a beautiful rural place. and these suggestions have nothing to do with the fact that Nimbus is in Vancouver, and Gabriola (where my ex and his girlfriend live) is a 20 min. ferry ride from my town - ahem

Nimbus seems more like a school, don't know if PG could record there - wish I had the money I'd sign up in a second http://nimbusrecording.com/news/ Meet Bob Ezrin at our upcoming Open House & BBQ! Posted on 16 Oct 2012 We had a great time at our last open house and are excited to invite you to come check out our school next month for our Fall open house and http://nimbusrecording.com/ Welcome to Nimbus The Nimbus School of Recording Arts offers an unparalleled, hands-on approach to education that empowers, elevates and strengthens our students. OK, now that it seems this is a working hiatus from the website only for Peter, perhaps we really should suggest places for him to go and see new interesting things, aside from the places he always goes, like skiing in the same old places. Perhaps next summer he should try skiing in South America somewhere? As for places that I can suggest that I've been to, and one that I'm planning to revisit, Yellowstone is it this year, taking a hiatus from the Everglades I think, since the truck had issues last year and may still not be quite right. As for me, I'll be there at the end of August. Though the rapids for the rafting trips in Jackson Hole are their best in mid or the end of June. Waters cold, but the waves are awesome, the kids would love that. However I have to pick from the weeks offered, so I'll have milder waves, but warmer water. The first two weeks of September I hear are not bad times to go, less people, but the chances of snow at night increases and a lot of facilities start to close. OK, if I could of had them, that's when I would have gone. The whole area is full of wonderful things to see in the mountains and the animals. Just keep a distance as the animals are wild and not friendly cartoon animals. The Grand Tetons are just south, the moon like, though starting to bloom landscapes of Craters of the Moon in Idaho. (probably won't make it that far this trip as I want to concentrate on Yellowstone, but a neat place) Devil's tower isn't far either for the Close Encounters of the Third kind fans. Stayed at the KOA there years ago. Yellowstone in many ways is an over touristed area, but for good reason. We can thank Theodore Roosevelt for believing it should belong to everyone and was in need of conservation. Going to visit an old friend in the Riverton, WY area while I'm out that way as well as stop and visit a cousin in Minnesota on the way backish. If there's time we may run up to the Thunder Bay area of Canada. Am sure to meet some interesting people on the way. I'm camping, but there are a lot of hotels, lodges and stuff in the area as well. Worth the trip.

PG can sort his own holiday.
Zenrider 13 January at 8:56pm Posts: 3560 (0 today) Status: offline
Yes he can, am certainly not saying he has to do, or go any of the places I or anyone suggests, but sheesh, he said it was to be a year of interesting things, and so far it seems he's just doing the same old things instead. So perhaps a few suggestions are in order, or not, don't really care either way, but helps pass the time for those waiting for concerts and whatnot in the mean time. Or not.
Pat Parker 13 January at 10:06pm Posts: 2683 (0 today) Status: offline
The same old things might be interesting to him -- hence, the reason he's doing them. I do imagine though that he's doing quite a bit more than the little tid bits we hear about -- after all, it's been several months now that he's into his year of interesting things and maybe he'll come back next year some time and tell us all about them -- or not. Also, sometimes I think that PG wanted this year for several reasons -- and he did mention a few of them -- a few places he wanted to visit, etc., but his other time can be spent with his family, just sitting around doing nuttin' having time with his family -- which is most likely a very interesting thing for him to do. Anyway, I hope he's enjoying himself immensely and know that his time is really going by quickly, so he'd better hurry up and get it all in Kind regards.

Agreed Pat, after all, I do tend to go one place year after year and not doing it this year is leaving me feeling a bit strange. Might make a couple of short weekend trips to visit some old friends for a weekend, but nothing or nowhere fancy. If it was in the budget, it would have been tempting to go visit Meme, but perhaps some other year. And yes, sometimes doing nothing is good too, though for those of us without maids, does seem to grow the dust bunnies rather large.
Pat Parker 14 January at 1:46am Posts: 2683 (0 today) Status: offline
Zenrider -- those dust bunnies do seem to grow just as quickly as the other bunnies, with or without our help, yeah? For years, I went to Eire during St. Padraig's time. I used to go with a group of Mummers who would be in the parade (in a small town, Kiltimagh, County Mayo). I did that consecutively for 5-6 years and I'd like to go again, but it seems as if something else always comes up. Now, on St. Paddy's Day I have a large family dinner/party (I have a large family, so that makes it "large" and I have a few close friends who attend). It's become an annual tradition and I really enjoy it. Since moving to Lancaster (which will be 5 years in April), it's become a weekend event because most of my family travel from Philly, so my house becomes a place to camp out as well. It's becoming challenging each year because there is always a new member of the family and the other kids are growing so they can't all sleep in the same arrangements as before. In the end, it all works out and I've been fortunate enough to have beautiful weather each year -- must be the Luck o' the Irish . For vacations this year?? I'm thinking about trying to make it to one or two PG shows but haven't quite decided which ones or how many -- of course, it all depends on the cash flow and so far, the powerball has not come through for me. We shall see what the next few months bring . . .
Zenrider 14 January at 3:47am Posts: 3560 (0 today) Status: offline
Hope you can make it to one of Peter's shows this year. Couldn't get any vacation time for any of them, so that's out of the question. Couldn't even get a week in November, or would have taken a chance that he might do some South American shows that month. Then I might have been able to see some of the places Meme has shown us too.

The good thing with kids in that age is, you can sleep, where you want , it's ok: In a tent, in a 6stars hotel, with friends at their home, everywhere, where they can have interesting experiences in a sheltering adult-surrounding. Also cakes and pommes and spaghetti, if they like Ok, PG took teachers with them, that's a bit evil, but perhaps they can be torn on kid's side.

Pat you might want to skip Belfast this St. Patrick's Day - not a good time: Northern Irish youths pelt Catholic church in latest "flag riots" ReutersReuters – Tue, Jan 15, 2013 BELFAST (Reuters) - Protestant youths in Northern Ireland threw petrol bombs at homes and a church in a Catholic area on Monday night as the latest outbreak of violence in Belfast took on increasing sectarian overtones. At least one police officer was injured during violent clashes between pro-British and Irish crowds who threw rocks and other missiles at each other, police said in a statement. The unrest has been some of the most sustained violence in the British-controlled province since a peace deal signed 15 years ago ended 30 years of conflict between Catholic Irish nationalists seeking union with Ireland and Protestant loyalists determined to remain part of the United Kingdom. Loyalists have held nightly protests since nationalist councillors voted last month to end a century-old tradition of flying the British union flag every day over Belfast City Hall, exposing a deep vein of discontent with the peace deal.
