"Dear Peter Gabriel Fan, We are sorry to report that there will be a minor shipping delay in the Peter Gabriel Back to Front Encore Series 2012. Because of the special nature of this tour, Peter Gabriel himself wanted to be present in the selection and creation of the art work for this series..."

Um, er, apology accepted. Still probably not going to get the extra special everything set, with the cool carry box, but that really can only add to the package.

"Each show of the Peter Gabriel Back to Front Tour will be recorded live from the soundboard, mixed by Peter's 'Front of House' Engineer, Ben Findlay." the question remains, why the delay?

oops. i hit the "f" instead of the "d."

The delay is tradition for Peter?

Can't break traditions.

2 days until the start of his "year of interesting things" and he now wants to be "present in the selection and creation of the art work." i am quite happy with soundboard recordings (i.e., no post-production work) in cardboard sleeves delivered within a few weeks following the event. does he plan to redesign the microphone shaped USB stick?

. . . perhaps it's going to be the first "interesting thing" - a family activity to design the cover of daddy's new cd. . . . Will it be finger painting or glue and glitter? Tough question for PG. . .

The artwork has already changed on the Encore site. It now features kind of cut up and reassembled photos of each band members face. So, job done PG??

Someone didn't post the rest of the information. The first 8 shows will now all begin shipping on October 30th... which means the longest any of the discs will be delayed is about 2 weeks, if that. The final half of the tour will ship as scheduled, according to the website. If you go to themusic's website, the art has already been selected. May be a bit of a mountain out of a molehill here... if it was going to be delayed a year or something, it'd be different. I can imagine some fans might think it's overkill, but I'd imagine a lot of fans like the fact that Peter puts his creative stamp on everything he releases. And that said, the artwork is pretty funny... a mismatched collage of the bands' faces.

guess i did need to read further. good thing the shipments we delayed just So PG could put his stamp of approval on the design of a cardboard sleeve.

here's another project delayed by his input. for some reason, PG concluded we could not have both for $150. i know a lot of fans liked that fact. “When we started looking at the contents for this set we reviewed the remixes, B-sides and original demos, with a view to assembling a selection of them on a CD to accompany the re-mastered album. As we started to listen to all that old stuff, I began to think that the process of creating the music might be much more interesting than collection of B-sides and remixes.” btw, i do not like the photo design, but it's a cardboard sleeve. however, i discovered mr. sinclair provided a review of So DNA while searching for that quote. i'll post the link on another thread.

oops... first i'm jumping to conclusions before reading the entire email, and now i'm misquoting the man. correction: "...yet another collection of B-sides and remixes."
