From panicmanual.com
So could be classified as the definitive Gabriel album (with the untitled Melt a close second), so it should come as no surprise that what is rumored to be his last tour ever is being billed as a 25th anniversary celebration of the release. But Back to Front is more than than the ultimate kiss-off tour, or a nostalgic rehashing of the “most popular, definitive material .

Right . . . this is PG's last and final tour and he's never going to write, record or do anything remotely related to music . . . I could tell by the shows I saw so far . . . that, and the Mayan calendar has us all disappearing by December, 2012, so it's understandable why this would be the last tour.
All I know is that plans change as does life in general and I think at this point PG does plan to tour in 2014 . . . that is, if the planet still exists as we know it. I wouldn't worry about this Ayla.

Who knows?
It seems that Peter has in his mind many projects, so i think it's only rumors by envious people , because Peter is still today one of the most important artist that we have in this planet.

Peter Gabriel is incapable of doing nothing in music. He may be slow, but he's like a shark, always moving forward. Relax.

mr. gabriel just dismissed any notions of retirement. i predict we will be treated to many tours in the future. just look at the frequency of his touring in past years. factor in the success of back to front. either he will continuing touring after the lag year, or he'll need to significantly downsize his expenditures (e.g., womad, real world, etc.).
just read recent interviews where he talks about finances if you have any doubts. besides, he would not allow the european petition on his official FB if this was not the case. after the "fuck 'em" comment, that would represent cruel and unusual punishment.
May I speak.

Have you all heard of that famous expression- The horses mouth? surly he would at least let all you hard core fans know if that was intention. Some times I think people here just come out with the most bazaar ideas that really do take the piss out of you super fans.

Aside for the fact that Dickie said they would be doing a tour in 2014 I bet PG has at least a few more left in him.

Rumours, one of the most successful albums of all time, I like rumours. This rumour is baseless, Peter would have the courtesy of letting us know if he even could retire from music.
His travelling will surely give him so much inspiration for songs.

There are certainly less tours in the future than there have been in the past). All things must pass and all that. So catch the magic while we can.
And I think as we see some of our favorite musicians confront the ravages of time, there will be other ways for them to continue making great music and sharing it in quasi-live form. Video streaming in real time....might not be nearly as lucrative.
But how cool would it be to go to a theater in your city or town, pay your admission, sit down and witness a live show of PG direct from Real World?
,
Of course, I have no idea what any of that would cost, but I do see that the same thing is being done for The Metropolitan Opera broadcasts in my local theater in Hanover, PA. The Tempest is coming in November and I've never been to an opera so I may scout this out. I'll dress up like Caliban and see if I can crash the stage. That'd be something he would do, y'know.

Besides that he's announced a continuation of this tour after his extended vacation, in watching him on stage, both before and during the show, it seemed to me that he has found performing to be fun again. So, yes we are likely to get a few more shows out of him.

Of course, when and where exactly, we are entirely at his mercy.
