I came across this quote from Geddy Lee of Rush. This is a question submitted by a Rush fan.
Is there one song by another artist that makes you stop and think: I wish we'd written that? - Jonathan Miller, Birmingham
GL: Oh, tons. Whenever I hear 'Solsibury Hill'.actually, most of Peter Gabriel's songs I wish I'd written them. There are so many.
AL: The McDonald's restaurant theme song; it would have been great to have written that.
The entire interview is here:

I like this, haha! I've never been able to get into rush simply because i can't stand Geddy's voice. I should try sometime though.

I'm with you AAA, I don't like Geddy's voice (pitch), so I never got into RUSH, although I do admit he is one heck of a bass player.
~ someone showed me this video last year and it's funny.

hey Jen, at 1st I thought you did mean PF, as in Pink Floyd.
but for me personally, I don't like the song Tom Sawyer - do you think this song is PG's style? I am closed minded to it, so I can't even see it's potential in the hands of Peter.

Both Geddy and Peart consider PG to be among their favorite.

I adore the song "Tom Sawyer". Loved it as a kid, still love it as an adult. Always have to turn the volum up and sing along when it comes on, lol.

Like them - seen them for many years - just a matter of pref
from Grace under pressure:
The body electric
One humanoid escapee
One android on the run
Seeking freedom beneath a lonely desert sun
Trying to change its program
Trying to change the mode -- crack the code
Images conflicting into data overload
Chorus
1-0-0-1-0-0-1
SOS
1-0-0-1-0-0-1
In distress
1-0-0-1-0-0
Memory banks unloading
Bytes break into bits
Unit One's in trouble and it's scared out of its wits
Guidance systems break down
A struggle to exist
To resist
A pulse of dying power in a clenching plastic fist
Chorus
It replays each of the days
A hundred years of routines
Bows its head and prays
To the mother of all machines
