A Dangerous Method (2011) A look at how the intense relationship between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud gives birth to psychoanalysis. Quatermass and the Pit (1967) aka Five Million Years to Earth An ancient Martian spaceship is unearthed in London, and proves to have powerful psychic effects on the people around. I loved this movie when I was a kid, going through my blonde phase with a crush on Hardy Kruger The One That Got Away (1957) A cocky German flight officer is shot down over England and makes numerous attempts to escape to fight again.

Any movie with Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) I watch, I saw A Dangerous Method a few weeks ago - I want to see Good, where Viggo plays a professor during WW2 in Germany, and slowly becomes more Nazi-like and evil. When I first thought of writing this parody, I checked in here and asked for opinions and one of the guys said "Stephen Biko had a great sense of humour and so does Peter Gabriel, so go ahead" Yet a few years after I reposted it here and one of the PGFP (Peter Gabriel Forum Police) gave me Hell over it So here it is - I was watching Viggo in History of Violence with the sound off (close captioning) when Biko came on the radio - as I was singing along I started singing "Viggo Viggo Viggo" instead of Biko It got some good reviews at the parody page. Original Song Title: "Biko" Original Performer: Peter Gabriel Parody Song Title: "Viggo" Parody Written by: Cynthia Mountain Viggo September 97 Port Nanaimo weather fine I was watching a movie about the summer of 69 Oh Viggo, Viggo very Viggo Hila-dalgo...Hila-dalgo The man is hot, the man is hot When I try to sleep at night I can only dream of Vig My hands are tired My sheets are wet All because of Vig Oh Viggo, Viggo very Viggo Hila-dalgo...Hila-dalgo The man is hot, the man is hot Hila-dalgo...Hila-dalgo The man is hot, the man is hot Uncontrolled passions so hard to handle But you can't blow out desire Once the feeling begin to catch His grin will blow it higher Oh Viggo, Viggo very Viggo Hila-dalgo...Hila-dalgo The man is hot, the man is hot Hila-dalgo...Hila-dalgo The man is sweet, the man is sweet His fans of the world are watching now touching now stalking now dreaming now for Viggo Mortensen it's in your hands now http://www.amiright.com/parody/80s/petergabriel14.shtml

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey A younger and more reluctant Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, sets out on a "unexpected journey" to the Lonely Mountain with a spirited group of Dwarves to reclaim a their stolen mountain home from a dragon named Smaug. Quotes: Old Bilbo: My dear Frodo, you asked me once if I had told you everything there was to know about my adventures. Well, I can honestly say I've told you the truth, I may not have told you all of it. Thorin Oakenshield: [singing] Far over the misty mountains cold / To dungeons deep and caverns old Dwarves: [singing] The pines were roaring on the height / The winds were moaning in the night / The fire was red, it flame spread / The trees like torches blazed with light. Good movie

Saw the Hobbit a week ago myself. Recognized some of the deviations, but yeah, it's been a while since I read the book, so there may be some re-reading in my future. Over all, OK with it. Thought it was a bit slow at first, but when it ended, was like really, that's it? It can't already be over. Just wish I'd kept up with the rune alphabet. My friends and I used to pass notes in High School using that alphabet. A teacher got hold of one once, was all, 'I bet everyone would like to know what this says.' Unfolded the paper. Thought for a second and said, 'So would I.' hehehe, sometimes it pays to be a geek.

Jera: (J or Y: A year, a good harvest.) The results of earlier efforts are realized. A time of peace and happiness, fruitful season. It can break through stagnancy. Hopes and expectations of peace and prosperity. The promise of success earned. Life cycle, cyclical pattern of the universe. Everything changes, in its own time http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/meanings.html MEANINGS OF THE RUNES I work with the "Elder Futhark", the runic alphabet which is a composite of the runic symbols most commonly used in northern Europe. The names of the runes of the Elder Futhark are speculative recreations of what linguists call "proto-Germanic", which stems from "proto-Indo-European". There are many versions of the runic alphabets. Each has variations in names, shapes, esoteric meanings and magical uses. One should not mix futharks, or the intent or meaning becomes confused. The Elder Futhark, the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, and the Younger (or Scandinavian) Futhark are the most frequently seen versions of the runic alphabets in use today. The runes are broken into three sections or groups of eight, called aett (aettir, plural). This helps one to remember their order, and later, you will see, has significance in magical uses. First the rune name is given, then its phonetic value, its symbolic image, and finally the esoteric meaning used in divination. Rune users disagree on whether or not to place a different meaning on a rune that falls in an inverted or reversed position. Some runes look the same upside down and right side up. These cannot be "reversed". Nevertheless, any of the runes may appear as a "merkstave" (which literally means "dark stick" and implies a "dark" meaning), depending on how the runes are cast. Note that a "reversed" or "merkstave" meaning is not the opposite of its primary meaning, but usually has a more negative connotation. I do Rune readings

Shake Hands with the Devil (2007) In the end of 1993, the Canadian General Romeo Dallaire is assigned to lead the United Nation troops in Rwanda. In 1994, when the genocide of the Tutsis by the Hutus begins, General Dallaire gives his best effort to help the people in Rwanda, inclusive negotiating with the Tutsi rebels, the Hutu army and the Interhamwe militia. However, he fights against bureaucracy and lack of interest from the United Nations and witnesses the West World ignoring and turning back any sort of support, inclusive USA opposing in the security council of UN to any type of help. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Based on the book by the same title, Shake Hands with the Devil chronicles the horrendous experiences of Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire of the Canadian Forces, who headed up the 1994 United Nations peacekeeping force in Rwanda during the outbreak of that country's genocidal civil war between rival Hutus and Tutsis. Directed by Roger Spottiswoode, this Canadian production, filmed on location in Rwanda, serves as a scathing indictment of humanity in general, and the UN in particular, for turning a blind eye to the human carnage that took place in the former Belgian colony. Hamstrung by UN orders not to interfere, his men given virtually no ammunition and instructed to only fire if fired upon, the movie chronicles the events that left Dallaire, a once proud and hardened career military officer, broken and teetering on the edge of a nervous breakdown.

Disney Nature's Chimpanzee, which was released at the theaters last year on Earth Day. What an amazing film, and to think, it is real, live and in the present that this film was made. No mechanical/computer generated chimps here. Made me want to watch, Planet of the Apes, next.

This is a good movie also by Duncan Jones Moon (2009) Director: Duncan Jones Writers: Duncan Jones (story), Nathan Parker Stars: Sam Rockwell, Kevin Spacey and Dominique Sam Bell has a three year contract to work for Lunar Industries. For the contract's entire duration, he is the sole employee based at their lunar station. His primary job responsibility is to harvest and periodically rocket back to Earth supplies of helium-3, the current clean and abundant fuel used on Earth. There is no direct communication link available between the lunar station and Earth, so his only direct real-time interaction is with GERTY, the intelligent computer whose function is to attend to his day to day needs. With such little human contact and all of it indirect, he feels that three years is far too long to be so isolated; he knows he is beginning to hallucinate as the end of his three years approaches. All he wants is to return to Earth to be with his wife Tess and their infant daughter Eve, who was born just prior to his leaving for this job. With two weeks to go, he gets into an accident at one of the mechanical harvesters and is rendered unconscious

Saw 'Lincoln' with Daniel Day-Lewis , Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones. Good study in my eyes about the sophisticated connection of private and public things and as always an impressing play of DDL. He sinks into the person, but still shines through. Also Tommy Lee Jones filled a good part as eloquent leader of the constitution change movement. The parliament debates were very funny political uncorrect, wish we had it this way today sometimes. For me( sitting in the first row) the men-costums were interesting. They all looked like beeing sewed just fresh for the film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiSAbAuLhqs The trailer is not very representative. It all had more private touch.

Just saw The Silver Lining Playbook...it was excellent and all of the actors were very true honest characters. I'd recommend it to anyone. It's funny, it's real, and it's a great story line.
