For "Life in a day," Ridley Scott calls for the contribution of Internet via YouTube
(AFP) - There 4:00
WASHINGTON - The new project director Ridley Scott called "Life in a Day" ("Life in a Day") and relies on the contributions of users who were invited to film their day and post it on the site Sharing YouTube videos.
The Oscar-winning author of "Blade Runner", "Gladiator" and "Thelma and Louise", among others, participated with Kevin MacDonald ("The Last King of Scotland") to this project, Google said Tuesday, calling it "cinematic experience history," to "document a day, through the eyes of people around the world."
The day chosen for the experiment will be July 24. "You have 24 hours to capture a snapshot of your life with the camera," said YouTube's official blog. "You can shoot the ordinary - a sunrise, the journey to get to work, a football match in the quarters or the extraordinary: the first steps of a child, your reaction to the death of a loved one, even a marriage.
Kevin Macdonald will be responsible to assemble, and the movie that will result, produced by Ridley Scott, will be released at the Sundance Film Festival next January in Park City, Utah (western U.S.).
All users whose clips are chosen will be listed as co-directors, and 20 of them attend the first.
Entries must be posted on YouTube before July 31.
YouTube is customary cultural operations outside the norm. Last year the site had launched the first online band, called YouTube Symphony Orchestra, composed of over 90 professional and amateur musicians enrolled in over thirty countries in the wake of hearings on the site.

A Day in the Life: "a world. 24 hours. 6000000000 glances.
The video sharing site YouTube and directors Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald join around a common project: to bring to life the world a true theater experience. How? In proposing to anyone to shoot a moment of his life: the project introduces a new genre of cinema, cinema collaborative!
Moviegoers, hello!
On 24 July, any amateur can shoot a director when his own life, then send it on Youtube channel dedicated to the project, between 24 and 31 July. Videos most original, interesting, relevant, be integrated to an experimental documentary co-produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Kevin Macdonald.
The latter said "I want you to describe your world, your life, your environment on a day. Shoot your way to your workplace or a visit you make to your son, your mother or your grandmother. The goal is to make a film representing the moments of life on Earth for a period of 24 hours. My job is to find links between all the videos. These links may be thematic (fears about the future, love for a baby) or time (breakfast, travel to and from work, sunrise in Rio, London and Namibia.
Some basic rules
The final draft will be shown in preview at the Sundance festival in January 2011. And twenty budding filmmakers will be invited to the festival. Technically, the film will be sold to any studio, no film lover will be paid but their names appear as co-directors.
Some countries will not participate, including those affected by U.S. embargoes and sanctions: Iran, Syria, Cuba, North Korea and Myanmar. No language will be imposed. Only requirement: Participants must be at least 13 years.

were do you sign up ?
Nowhere I do think if you're not interested by others creativity and sharing process, if you're not interested in the next generation condition of living, in one word, if the sole fact to be you and to breath seems sufficient to you.

happy you should be touched by Mr Gabriel's music :-]

sorry for that over reactivity in the morning Zen.
I should have learnt since long that maybe we're not here to share the same "part" of the man.
Maybe are you just interested in the musician maker, while I'm as well fascinated by the man of ideas and should i say of "ideal" he is.
all the posts I can launch, are related to what he did express as being his values and motor in life through the film: The world according to Peter Gabriel.
He is a wonderful artist, but his music is in my mind no more than the "immerged part of much more".
he is an artist with a clear vision of who he wishes to be, what he wants, and whow to turn this "vision" into reality.and in my point of view that's something rare, only shared by few artists.
and to be precise, listening to him since I was twelve, I'm astonished to see that his music is still strongly felt by me 35 years later, and that as the same time I evolved in what shall be my own values, totaly alongside his own ones.
That's to me, something even more precious and rare.
Then, zen, :-] if you're for your own part only interested in the musician here, at least be able to admit than others could be touched by other aspect of that "cameleon man".
Let a space be for it, without over reacting, it's your total own right to be only interested by the musician maker and performer so huge he is.
just skip those posts, they are not meant to be read by you, but by some others here.

I will just add, let space for the feeling like "amplificating" the man's values. No more than ideas and facts He, in first place is fond of.
