For you fans of PT, there's a programme on 27 October at 13.30 GMT, on BBC Radio 4: 'Baroque and Roll'. Pete Townsend discusses the influence of the composer Purcell on his writing.

Duddy,
Just listened to the Pete Townsend interview.
Thanks for posting such an interesting item.
Interesting that he sees Purcell's Dido and Aeneus as a series of songs 'like the scenes of a play'.

Tree Mouse, yes that is interesting. What fascinates me (apart from what influences people)is how we all see/hear things differently. I'd love to see a group of musicians all given the same topic, say those involved in Scratch My Back and see what interpretations they came up with. Mind you we'd then all have our own unique reponses and images in our heads. Human beings are amazing.

Like 'Red, Hot and Blue' that charity tribute to Cole Porter? Some brilliant tracks, some stinkers.

Tree Mouse, you are the first person I've met who has heard of that! I had the tape playing in my car for years until it broke. Seem to remember Jimmy Somerville. Loved it but know what you mean.

The Pogues + Kirsty Maccoll -
Miss Otis Regrets / Just One Of Those Things
David Byrne -
Don't Fence Me In
These are two of my favourite tracks from that album.
