It is a sad story for sure, Erika. Thanks for your thread for him. Pittsburgh (where Carnegie Mellon University is located)is a sad city this weekend. Thoughts are with his wife, three little children and family and friends.

The day after he delivered his now and forever famous Last Lecture, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette ran a feature article on him with excerpts from his talk.
It was so moving, I immediately printed out a copy of it and read it to all my students that day.
I have no doubt that his goodness will keep growing here and his spirit will be called to the brightness that awaits us all.
