Since we have exposed our failings on songs we admit to liking! Can we share the embarrassment of concerts we are ashamed to admit we attended. VAL DOONICAN in Villa Marina, Isle of Man. Beat that

King Crimson, The Power To Believe tour, Toronto, March 12, 2003. In typical pomposity. "King Crimson lives in different bodies at different times and the particular form which the group takes changes. When music appears, which only King Crimson can play then, sOOner or later, King Crimson appears to play the music." (excuse while I run out of the rOOm to spank myself with some old Gurdjieff texts!!! THWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!! Ahhhh.MUCH better!!) forgive me for that!! Yeah Robert that's a rich tapestry you've constructed there. That night the "King" (I believe it was his understudy!) managed to dole out a whopping 80 minutes of music and Fripp would NOT acknowledge his audience. And why???? WHY you ask!?!?!? two camera flashes went off, that's WHY!! NO cigarette or joint smoke.just 2 flashes and the "Kings" coherence is OUT in the court.

dave. . . i would have loved to see ultravox back in the day. i saw devo on the "whip it" tour. high as a kite and a whopping headache to boot.
mercy 10 February 2008 at 3:39am Posts: 1127 (0 today) Status: offline
hey jared, i bet i was at that same cyndi concert, seein' we are from the same area. 'cept i'd put it in the 'darn glad i went to' concert thread. if there were such a thing. :-] but in keeping. . . journey. I WAS DRAGGED BY MY ROOMMATE. I SWEAR ON ALL THINGS HOLY!!!
Jared C 10 February 2008 at 4:40am Posts: 986 (0 today) Status: offline
Mercy - could be the same one, but I was about 11 years old at the time. It was at a place called Miller Stadium in NYC right outside the Intrepid Museum. I liked Cyndi, though - she put on a great show.

Hey Moof, Paul Young yuk! He did support for Genesis at Hampden Park Glasgow. That was my excuse for seeing him. Not only embarrassing but he was CRAAAAAAAP!!! Definately NOT stadium concert standard! =

. omg, this is dregding up aaawwwful memories - like the song thread, it does feel like I'm purging repressed memories here. Extreme (saw them in 90 or 91, can't remember) Trooper. ( I really hit rock bottom with that one. )

Wait a second! There are actually people here who are ashamed at having attended shows by Devo (one of the best live acts in the biz), King Crimson (Prog gods), Cindi Lauper (saw her with Blue Angel, brillant singer) and Shirley Bassey (Blues/jazz legend along with great pop classics). :-] Who ARE you people?! :-]
Mallet 11 February 2008 at 10:12am Posts: 275 (0 today) Status: offline
T'Pau - and i actually paid for the ticket! Less embarrassing but equally cring worthy was Talk Talk at Milton Keynes supporting The Six of the Best Reunion gig. Hats off to them though they kept playing through a barrage of suspiciously filled bottles. Would have loved to have seen Devo!
Pathagoras 11 February 2008 at 4:21pm Posts: 460 (0 today) Status: offline
actually, your comments have compelled me to retract my statement nech and mallet. i really don't remember much about the concert, but devo-lution was my first album ever. and i now ask mark mothersbaugh for forgiveness. they weren't too shabby. and how could you not love the yellow jump suits and robotic movements? yea. i retract. good concert. no shame. :-] :-]
