The Secret World tour and the Growing Up tour are both the major tour PG is known for. Both have been released on DVD.
For those who have seen both, which one is your favorite.
I just got Growing Up, and am watching it as I post this.
They are both pretty good.

Hmm. . .
On balance, Growing Up. I kinda think it's the last we'll ever see of this kind of 'arty' imaginative show, from anyone in the music business.
Others can throw money at it; but don't make the show fit the creative spirit of the music (if they have any in the 1st place).
Having said that, SW was excellent too, Peter still sounding great and looking fit (for a 40 odd year old) :-]
Changed my mind; luv 'em both!!

I can't make a choice either!
I went to the gorwing up concert and LOVED it! But I have also seen the secret world tour on video and boy I wish I had been there! I mean Paula Cole was sining with him. But then it was fun to see father and daughter together as well.
It's a toughy!

Secret World by far. Paula Cole, Manu Katchén, Shankar, etc. that was just amazing. Unbeatable lineup.
Growing Up was more of a "let's have fun"-tour, it seems to me.

Very tough to say which Gabriel show I liked period.
The only tour I missed was the car tour - sniff sniff.
But yes SW with all of its entity's and theatrics - goodness - the floating 50 /50 foot screen that rotated.
Up was a statement of growth for Peter and myself - his age - his thoughts and the depth of the symbolism - I brought my kids to that tour - they were pretty well stunned.
It is so nice to have these shows recorded ? I?ll choose SW for its diversity.
Oh crap some one help me UP.

I still wish, someone had made a DVD about the China-tour, that I attended. . .so that I can better remember, what made me move exactly, all the way to Bath and then China etc.

I didn't get to see SWL, but the DVD blows me away.
After I saw the UP tour live in Washington, DC I turned to my friend and said, "Now THAT is the coolest thing I have ever seen." It definitely had a darker, edgier feel to it. I think the circular stage made it very intimate too. Hard to believe that was over 5 years ago.

I enjoyed both Secret World and Growing Up: Live and Unwrapped. They both offer such different perspectives regarding Peter and the band and the music they play. If I absolutely HAD to choose one, though, I think it would be Growing Up: Live and Unwrapped. The simplicity of the shows, mixed with the intensity displayed by everyone on stage is incredible. The energy between Peter and Mel during Come Talk to Me, or the kick ass guitar solo montage by David Rhodes during Secret World are show stopping moments!

I love the newer live version of 'Secret World' it totally rocks!
And although Manu is one of the world's best drummers, I actually prefer the way Ged makes the music 'drive'. I thought the band were excellent last year too.
Also glad I got to see SWL twice - ha-ha!! Was anyone else at the excellent Paris gig?

I've only seen the dvd's of the tours, but I love Growing Up Live and Unwrapped better. The versions of White Ashes and The Tower That Ate People are just awesome! I'll pop in the dvd just for those 2 songs. More than likely though, I'll watch the whole thing. The music and the choreography are excellent. Seeing both dvd's though just make me want to see PG live. I can't wait for him to tour the US again!

Great question - just what I came to hear thoughts about. I just bought the Growing Up DVD and am disappointed with the sound quality, though it could be the exceedingly average system I watched it on. Doesn't sound like anyone's had the same problem though. It made GU not half as good as SW, which I saw on VHS and was still better!

Because I was way too young back then, I never got to see the Secret World show, only on dvd.
But it blew me away, thanks to DTS!

Both shows are awesome, each one in it's very own way, cannot choose between them!
I'd love to see a dvd from the PG4-So era.
Cool thread by the way!
