I have an old copy of the car album on cassette, and have always really liked the original version of here comes the flood with all the loud guitars on it. However, I've just been listening to the clip of the song on the first album on this site and it played a clip from the later all piano and vocals version. Does anyone know if the original has been replaced, and if so, can I still get a CD of the first album with the original version on?? If that makes sense! Cheers!

The version on STT is how the song was supposed to sound when PG wrote it I believe, the version on 'Car' is Bob Ezrins overblown production version, if you listen hard to it you'll notice Peter's pitch doesnt change that much, it appears to be just the production 'volume' on that piece that changes. the Piano and voice version on STT imho has much more feeling and depth to it than the first album where it was blown out of proportion

To answer your question Bootsy, yes you can still get the original version on CD.
I love that album too.

I'll bet Peter's original idea for the sound of HCTF is very much like it appears on Fripp's "Exposure" album. I think that's actually my favorite version.

Thanks for the replies!
Good to know there's another Fripp fan too, Idon't know anyone else who has the exposure album!
Point taken about the increased sensitivity with the new version of the song, it's just that I'm a bit of a sucker for loud guitars some of the time. It's been a while since I've heard the original (Idon't play cassettes any more) but I seem to remember there being a cracking guitar solo on it. I remember at the time wondering f it was Fripp playing the guitar on the track. Probably isn't though.
Thanks again.

Here another one with the exposure album, but I must confess, I never made up my mind to compare it, will do, since you mentioned it.
Thanks for reminding me!

I agree Phaedrus. I edited the two tracks into one (Water Music I/Here Comes The Flood) so that they always play together in iTunes.
