"Walk through the fire" is also a song I´m missing on the So disc set. It´s on the red rain maxi vinyl and it was a song used in a tv series which name I didn´t remember. Does anybody know?

There are two versions of the song (which I love - it's underrated!), one was used in the film "Against All Odds" but I've heard it in other films or on TV, but can't remember where. Out of all the So-era b-sides, for me, this is the best. The version on the Red Rain single, is fantastic.

Is the version on the Red Rain single different from the version on the Against All Odds soundtrack? If so, I'd love to hear it.

I'm not sure where the two versions come from or which is the original - though I think the version on AAO and Red Rain is the same (and the better version of thee two).

The Two versions are the original Sountrack-Mix and a Single Mix.

The titular 12" version and the Red Rain B-side sound the same to me. The original version included in the film soundtrack is different - can't find it anywhere on YT.

caste, thank you for the clarification. i do not own the soundtrack. see, i knew yours was bigger.

Just listened to the non-soundtrack version on youtube...I think I prefer the soundtrack Walk Through the Fire. That may be due to familiarity. Somehow, the non-soundtrack version feels a bit overproduced. Sort of like Burn You Up, Burn You Down (I prefer the version on Big Blue Ball, rather than the subsequent version put on Hit).

I would have thought for a release this big he would have dug up all the b sides and included them. I'm also very concerned that he may not be making either of the two newly released cuts available at all in the US (besides vinyl- which is fun to have- but most people aren't set up to get it off of vinyl). What about "I go swimming"? Except for a promo cd I saw once (and didn't buy like an idiot), I don't know if the studio version has ever been released on cd.

You mean the instrumental version of I Go Swimming that was on the B-side of Red Rain? I don't think I ever saw it on CD, apart from a bootlegged issue called B-side US. @Mozo: hee hee hee - but Sammy's even bigger! (Do you need the soundtrack version of Walk?).
harrismonkey 26 August 2012 at 4:39pm Posts: 15 (0 today) Status: offline
Over the last few days digging around I've begun to wonder if it was instrumental. But iirc it was just labeled I go swimming and absolutely not Ga Ga (I would have had no idea what that meant until this week). I suppose it's possible it was the live version. Who knows, I held it my hands once probably 11 years ago. I know what my impressions were, but I can't be 100% positive of anything now. It was a pre release promo for So. It featured some of So's tracks as well as I Go Swimming. The only copy of this I've ever seen, and I was an idiot not to grab it.

@ Caste: Mine, bigger than yours?!

Said John Holmes to Rocco Siffredi - but you've got to give credit where it's due. I never heard of that promo, Harrismonkey. "Sammy" sure has.

I never heard of that promo either, Harrismonkey. Are you sure it was a pre release promo for SO and not a bootleg?
harrismonkey 27 August 2012 at 7:03pm Posts: 15 (0 today) Status: offline
Reasonably sure. But there's no way to be certain. I had it in my hands once 11 years ago (or so). It's certainly possible I didn't recognize it as a bootleg- but it seemed legitimate. I wish I could pull it out and look at it. I'm not sure what the point would have been of a bootleg with about 5 cuts off So plus I Go Swimming (this is actually why I didn't get it, I didn't realize how rare Swimming was, and I had everything else)- but it wouldn't be the first bootleg to make very little sense.
