Will the New Blood series ever be released on SACD? There are lots of us audiophiles that would be very happy if you do.

Like some others, I would sincerely hope that some of the best music including New Blood would be released on SACD. Could a petition help? Some of PG previous SACDs are hard to find and fetch very high price on eBay, and it should be an incentive for companies to re-release them. That being said, i'm afraid music companies are just not interested, because there are not many of us. A few months ago, the only true Hi-Fi retailer in my city closed down. The owner explained to me he had to do so now because he was actually losing money trying to keep it running, people just don't care much about quality these days. I don't agree with Ray Kurzweil that everything gets better and cheaper over time. Cheaper, definitely. Better? It depends on how high your expectations are.

It is a great loss to not have new recordings in hybrid surround SACD. It makes a huge difference to the music and to the listening experience. When I list to my SACD copy of UP I am stuck by the quality of the sound, how natural it is and how much more I hear of how the songs are made up with the different instrumentation around me, I become immersed and part of the music, it is a truly amazing album to listen to in surround. How we are still stuck with old 80's stereo technology that does not sound as good, when a hybrid SACD is so versatile and suits everyone is beyond me. So please let us have releases in surround hybrid SACDs. I would hate to see the albums released as SACDS in Japan at inflated prices and not made easily available to the majority of us who want to hear great music at its best, which SACD allows.

I work with the Super Audio Center in Boulder, CO -- Maybe Peter would remember Gus Skinas there at some point

but, we'd positively love to do another SACD. We still make them! I'm guessing that executives feel that downloads are the way to go though. (I still have a hard time warming up to them.) --- Seeing as PG's existing SACDs go for triple digits, I would think a collectors run of New Blood Orchestra SACDs would be somewhat justifiable, but i'm biased!
I think there's always hope though. Lot of us SACD folks still out there.

I was never convined by all this SACD 24/96 khz stuff - for those in doubt, either way, this is really interesting -

I think hybrid SACDs are brilliant and if you have listened to UP in SACD multichannel you would have a completely different listening experience, totally enriched by hearing the layers of the music more clearly through the use of surround. This SACD can sell for around £100 in the UK, so who says there is no demand for multichannel SACD, I think that price is an indication of what demand. It is really disappointing to see the special editions being released not being very special but churning out more of the same stereo version. Very unimaginative and what a loss to have the chance to have a new listening experience and hear PGs albums truly anew in surround! I guess accountants come before art and creativity.
