I bought New blood today, the album is ok however Ane Brun voice on Don't give up is terrible. It is such an annoying voice, she sounds like a child learning to talk, and Melanie soungs like somemone who is trying to sing but can't.
Peter should of got Kate Bush and Liz Fraser back for the album.
Red Rain is great and San Jacinto is really good as well.
But Peter please come out with a solo album soon, the wait is too long.

Nah, they're ok. The backing /duet vocals are not my favourite part of the project, but "spoil" it? No. they are a bit thin here and there, which a decent mix would have sorted, but hey everything else is spot on so we shouldn't complain...
Ane Brun sings like Bjork. Perhaps it's an acquire taste, but it's kinda Scandinavian and has its own charm.
I too am desperate for a PG album of new tunes, but don't let that get in the way, New Blood is a really lovely record. I prefer a bunch of these versions to the originals already.

On the New Blood track “Don’t Give Up”, I’m not a big fan of Ane Brun’s voice. When I heard her sing during “Don’t Give Up” at Red Rocks Amphitheater here in Colorado, I didn’t like it then, either.
I noticed that both Ane and Melanie sing in the New Blood track “Mercy Street”. When they sing together, it’s fine. But when Ane sings solo in small parts, I’m just not feeling it. I prefer Melanie. Regardless of whether Melanie’s voice is a lead vocal or whether it’s a backing vocal, I love it.
