I wonder if he will record a few more before releasing the album. I wish he does!

Or maybe they were already recorded but not announced. I don't know, but it would seem weird not to record these songs since they worked so well live.

I think Peter Gabriel himself must have thought about a double-CD-set already:
He knows there are too many good songs plus this time he has got the opportunity to feature a whole classic orchestra in the back. The man himself cannot treat any of his tunes like a "Step-child" by not featuring them on this upcoming album.
In the end we may end up with a 1-disc-CD with probably 12 or 14 songs.
Compared to the "HIT"-double-CD a "New Blood"-album as a double-CD would offer all fans something NEW, just because of the orchestral and partly re-arranged versions of his own songs.

I agree Mr.Clueless!
. . . .i am excited,who knows what will happen??
Does Peter will say something?
Or maybe. . . . .a "noisy" silence will take us,and unexpectedly, like a fire in the sky,Peter will take us by surprise????

Is there a chance to hear Melanie also on the studio-version of "Washing of the Water" ? I think not. I really like this new "duet"-version with Melanie on vocals.
Melanie had the chance to sing additional vocals on "Book of Love" (SMB-version) - it would have been also a nice idea to feature her on the STUDIO-version of "Water" - not only during the "New Blood"-shows. Peter sounds a bit too "lonely" on the latest orchestra-studio version.

I could hear out a personal emotional note in the voice of Melanie during her performances of "Washing of the Water", which I liked a lot. She was singing: ". . .like HE reached me tonight". Until that moment it was - since 1992 ("US") - PG himself singing: ". . .like SHE reached me tonight" - lyrics written by PG out of his own personal emotional expiriences. What I am trying to say is: Melanie made the song her own and it feels like she bringing in HER own feelings into that song - at least for her vocal-part on this duet.

You're perfectly right Cimber, i also noticed that she wanted to make this very personal song her own. Maybe she will appear on the New Blood future CD, certainly on "Blood Od Eden".

I too am wondering that, and like you I find it hard for Melanie's vocals to be featured on the studio WOTW, specially now that it was released already. A pity since she sang it so well during the NB tour.

melanie sang "washing of the water" great, i was engulfed in what i was hearing, that song showed me the power of her voice, i think that she outdid herslf. it was one of the most if not my most favroit song of the set. and she made the song her own, her voice is suited to that song. i realy wish that peter would do "secret world", that would be cool as a remix or somet. :-]

Melanie surely is a nice person, but I'm not the only one who thinks she can't sing very well. If she wasn't Peters daugther, nobody would take notice of her. Sorry, but that's the undisputed truth.

I do not know if it's "a truth",but i have to admit i agree with you Marmissf. . sorry, but i can not go against myself.
I think she has improved recently,on New Blood Tour she really sang very well, and very lovely his attitude on stage but hey!. . .her father is called Peter Gabriel.
She is really fine and nice voice (but it's a normal voice. . . many singers in the world have voices like Melanie),but personally there is always something that not convince me,i do not know what is this. . . .
. . .but, fortunately, we are not all equal, she likes to many people, this is a good thing.

Bad-dolcevita,but i prefer to be sincere than to say false words.

I think her voice is interesting, and quite suitable for songs of Peter. She sounded very good at the concert I attended(Dolce! :-] ).
Marmissf, reading your words made me think of this: if she wasn't Peter's daughter, maybe more people would have taken notice of her. I think it's the "curse" of children of great artists who choose to follow the steps of their parents. My humble opinion, of course.
