Ha, this is funny! :-]
You can read similar lines in the Paul Simon Forum in reverse when it comes to "Biko".
Both they are great artists. Very, very different in their approach or methodes of work, even in their personaleties I think, but when it comes to their output, they're standing near to each other in some way.

Dose, I like the Escher avatar. Ricardo, I don't think there is any reason to compare the two, they have different voices and styles and I agree that both are great. That being said, I really enjoy SMB, but Boy in the Bubble is the biggest disapointment to me. I didn't know any of the songs except for Heroes and Boy in the Bubble, and the interpretation of Boy falls flat to me (just an opinion not a bashing and as I said I really enjoy this album). Boy and Street Spirit are the only songs I'm not fond of. I need to start trying to find the original versions of some of these other songs that I am not familiar with. I was a hugs Heads fan and couldn't remember Listening Wind. I went back to hear it and the Heads version is funky. I really like Pete's interpretation of that. Mirrorball also is great. I really like Power of the Heart, I need to go find the original. I'm going to see the show in NY in May and can't wait.

For the record, I agree with Jen on the part about PG has in spades the inspiration, breadth, depth and whatever you want to call it (I like genius). I just didn't think the thread needed to be labeled Peter's Voice is better than Paul's as it seems denegrating to Paul for no reason.

They have different voices, but if i must made a choice it's clear that for me i prefer Peter :-].
But voice of Paul is so warm and really beautiful, i can not compare, they are two different worlds.
The most important thing is,for me,that they are both real and True Artists,so everyone loves their Music and their styles, according to his heart

Uhm, isn't there something missing in the thread title? like an apostrophe and an s or something.
Cause the way you posted it makes it sound like you were comparing Peter's voice to Paul Simon as a person. lol

definitly yes for my ears, I prefer Peter's voice , not only the sound of his voice but also the emotion , it's so difficult to do, you can sing very well, have a brilliant technic , a pleasant sound but the most important is the emotion, I find emotion everywhere in Peter.

I also wrote: "This is funny."
Now I have to write: This comparison of voices is ridiculous.
Simons approach to bring something to your mind is completely different. He draws clear, transparent images of words, melodies and sounds. This doesn't need necessarily a supportive, meaningful voice. He's capable to serve the essence of life in 4 minutes or less by just telling (someones) a story. On the contrary Gabriel creates an atmosphere. To compare just their voices is much to cramped for jugement.

You can prefer and be fond of the one or the other way to be stimulated but this does't mean it's "better" in general.

By the way: "The Boy In The Bubble" is exceptional for Simons style of writing. He used it to give layers of meanings, I think.
