PG has no influence on locations and venues. Nowadays, tours get auctioned off to the highest bidder(s). Trouble with Ireland is: it is a relatively small island. PG would move with his equipment and people from Britain or mainland Europe to Dublin only to leave Ireland the next day. That's costly, and a PG tour isn't cheap. Remember it is only natural that the highest bidder believes to make money with a PG tour when all other bidders have already left the room.

A stripped-down concert would be amazing and cheap. If I was a big rock star I'd be so sick of all the big bucks arena deals that go with everything. . . just go somewhere and sing. . . he could even do some busking - just to cover his costs (we wouldn't want poor old PG to go hungry) How cool would that be?

Isn't Peter's wife Irish? I used to have a neat Genesis documentary on VHS in which as I recall Peter mentioned playing a boxing arena in Ireland on the FoxTrot tour, walking onstage wearing the fox head and red dress and the trepidation he felt about how the performance would perhaps not be received favorably by the audience.

Yep, I'd love to see a show in Eire, for sure! I understand what Kotangens is saying though, about the cost of the tour, etc., However, PG does have a say in the matter, and it would be his choice to play if he wanted to go with the idea. While it wouldn't be worth playing only one single venue, one single night, Eire does have more than one venue on the island, so perhaps he could do a few places (just as he is in the UK), to make it more worthwhile. And yes, mutant, Peter's wife is Irish, but I'm not sure that's enough of a reason for him to want to play there (although if I were she, I'd definitely be putting a bug in his ear about it -- Meabh, are you reading? how about it? ). At this point in time, I'll just have to hope I can make a show or two (or few) and will be working on working it out for myself. Now, if the PA Lottery Commission would just with the program and pick my winning numbers, it would all be a done deal! Kind regards,

Well...it's been said that behind every great man stands a great woman. But maybe Peter fears that if he visited Ireland Sinead O'Connor might show up and probably wanna arm wrestle somebody.
