Hi,
Yesterday I almost crashed my van when listening to this for the first time. I thought i heard a new line to one of my favourite tunes.
Upon checking several times today and several versions I noticed this line after the 5min mark when the chorus/cords finish in the slow verse..
Seeing things that were not there
" On a wing, on a prayer" - not sung but normal line
in this state of disrepair
and i make this simple prayer **** a few cheers here ******
down by the railway side
in our secret world we were colliding
in all the places we were hiding of
what was it we were thinking of......
I know Peter mixes a few verses up sometime but I've not heard that line ever before, has anyone else ? I guess he realized he missed the prayer line out and improvised.
Did you think you think you'd have to choose,
I alone could win or lose
Those lines seem to be the normal ones at that point on live versions at least, the album has no line there but they are absent on a few live versions after checking several versions I noticed one other different take. I then found one other variation from the radio 2 gig
through an illusion, on a prayer
in this state of disrepair
Does peter just sing this song however he fancies on the night? I cannot wait now to see what line we get in Manchester next year after spotting this.

Yes, Secret World seems to be a great favourite for the interchange of lyrics..... still a great song!

One of my fav's as anyone at the Mermaid last year will know.
I love on that cd how Peter messes up the start to Obut even though it doesn't really have any words !
