I understand what the VIP tickets entail, but will fan club tickets simply be pre-sale tickets for the whole venue?
Ela 27 May 2012 at 6:02pm Posts: 1336 (0 today) Status: offline
Yes, fan club tickets are just offered out ahead of the general sale. It should give you access to better seats, but there are several different pre-sales offering codes, so you'll be buying with other fans, and also some of the buyers the sell tickets to the ticket brokers. That's not what the pre-sale is for, but the brokers know about it, and take advantage when they can. By the time the general public gets their tickets, quite a few of the premium seats will be gone. It's the nature of the "ticket beast" right now. Good luck getting the seats you want Bird! Which show are you buying for?

Thanks Ela. I want to buy something for Chicago. Debating whether to try two regular seats or just treat myself to one of the VIP packages. I figure I'll find some like-minded people seated nearby. Sounds like the VIP deal would net the best seats. For me, great seats are important.

Another nice thing with the VIP package is that you go in early and hang out with those other fans before the show. You'll arrive early, then get to go to Sound Check with is sometimes great, sometimes just okay, then you get to have an area to hang out in and have food and drink with the other VIP's before the show. You are already parked at the venue for the day, you are there when the merchandise stand opens up, and by the time the show starts you've met some new friends, and they are sitting near you! Every sound check is different, sometimes PG is very late, and isn't there through most of it. Good luck!

Back when Jerry Marotta played with him, it was said that some of Jerry's album was based on stuff he played during PG sound checks. I haven't listened to that one in years--this afternoon?

Hey Bird, I saw him last year, 4th row, at Summerfest in Milwaukee. It was incredible. This summer I turn 50 and have decided to treat myself to, hopefully, the front row VIP package. I do feel that somehow, the brokers will beat us fans and snap up the few seats before we can. In any case, as Ela says, you'll meet some of the Fans from here, and that will be very cool as well. I wish us both luck for Tuesday morning!

Beaker-what a great birthday present! The good news is although the brokers can get to some of the good seats through the fan presale, they can't get the VIP packages and those seats because you have to show picture ID to get those, and the credit card you used. Only the purchaser can do that, so that helps the fans. All the best with getting your desired tickets/packages!

Hi Ela.... we have to show an ID? Does that mean that buying them through TicketMaster online does not work? Is there some other secret to success in getting the very best tickets? *Beaker has a worried expression* I've never done a VIP thing before and now I've kinda got my heart set on this concept!

"we have to show an ID? Does that mean that buying them through TicketMaster online does not work? Is there some other secret to success in getting the very best tickets?" It's my understanding that the VIP tickets are purchased through Ticketmaster, but must be picked up on the day of the show. Here's what the Ticketmaster site says: "You will be contacted via email approximately one (1) week prior to show date with instructions for your package elements. Please note The Invitation to Sound Check included in the Front Row and Hot Sound Package will require you to check-in at the venue in the early afternoon due to sound check taking place prior to general public doors; venue exit and re-entry may not be permitted. This VIP package is WILL-CALL ONLY. Will-call tickets may only be picked up at the venue the evening of the event by the original package purchaser, valid ID required."

Where you get your VIP tickets may vary venue to venue. They sent mine for the United Center last year, where my friend dropped them when I handed them to her for a moment. img src="/_global/images/icons/smiley.png" /> Thankfully, I was able to get tickets at the venue, but was really sweating it out for a bit. Which means, Will Call would be just fine for me. Less to worry about. Haven't heard from my friend, so I just may have to make up her mind for her.

No worries Beaker-just follow the instructions when you go for your package on Ticketmaster. You will be sent an e-mail a week or so out from your show, with specific instructions for that venue. Some info. like what time to be there, what entrance to wait at, etc...you will need an ID, though to get your tickets, and VIP merchandise. As you enter the venue, they will check each of you to make sure your name is on that list for VIP, and you'll get your ticket, lanyard, and merchandise. There will be a VIP guide too that will be on the whole tour ( what a fantastic job ), and will be there to meet all of the VIP's, and help you along with any questions, etc...It will all work out fine.

Beaker 29 May 2012 at 3:43pm Posts: 102 (0 today) Status: offline
It's true Puntaomegalori. I don't think that it's much of a secret.
