Great show, great orchestra, and we had a great time. the tech crew's orange jump suits were all the rage. I swear I was sitting right next to Mr. Alan Parsons.

First half was an eclectic mix of songs, didn't really build any momentum, and/or audience kind of dead. Maybe it was just the daylight? Second half was pretty great, audience got more into it, darkness fell and the lights were colorful. Had lots of fun.

Liked the new visuals. Didn't like the noisy drunks!

Missed Listening Wind in the set.
I preferred the acoustics of the Hollywood Bowl, but this was still a great show. The Hollywood Bowl is four times the size of the SB Bowl, but I really think the acoustics of the Hollywood Bowl stage itself are better. This would probably be great in the Disney Concert Hall or other classical venue. I think the percussion sounded better in the Hollywood Bowl too.
I also can't explain the crowd. The Hollywood Bowl crowd seemed much more receptive to the orchestra. I have never heard the Hollywood Bowl as quiet and respectful during a performance. The Santa Barbara Bowl, not so much.
The New Blood Orchestra was great!
Didn't shell out for the VIP package this time as we couldn't make the drive in time. Disappointed that they didn't let cameras in, but they handled it well with the free camera check. Great idea.
Good thing I got good photos last time!

Worth the drive. Like the small venue vibe.

were the visuals for Mercy Street just as emotional or were they changed for the worse.

I don't think the visuals were changed for Mercy Street, but since I was sitting in the front I have to admit I didn't often look up at the screens in the backgound or sides - there was too much of interest going on "closer" -
I too was dismayed at the audience. Arrived late, got up for beer, spilled beer, had to buy more beer, had to leave to go to the relieve themselves of all said beer, had to buy more beer, had to leave early. always in the middle of a song. I think many people act as if every public space is really their own private living room. That's why I wait anxiously for the day when only the truly serious Lunatics can have their own show without all the interruptions - with all apologies to Lunatics who are also beer lovers. Just pleeeeeaaaase be "invisible" about it!!!
I was told by security that the "no photo" rule was stipulated "by the artist himself" - I had a hard time believing this since at other venues, even recently, there was no strong crackdown.

All in all it was still a beautiful evening with great music. Met some wonderful people at sound check. David Crosby was there during the show. At intermission, I overheard him say "this is just crazy." He, like most of us thought so too.

I asked David Crosby during intermission if he liked the show and he said it was "mind blowing" and he hadn't heard/seen anything like it before. He said it changed his life.pretty strong words. It was a great show.

I thought the show was great. I had idiots behind me (even else was really quiet). When a crew guy would come out, a girl behind me would say "jumpsuit." She'd also have to repeat the words on the screen. Seriously? And she wouldn't stop giggling. I can't believe people pay all that money and then act as if they're in their backyard at a cookout or something.
But I'm so happy I finally got to hear "Wallflower" live (he never played that song ever in Los Angeles for all these past decades). Bummed we lost out on "Don't Give Up," though, and I'm surprised they went over the 10pm curfew. Hopefully they didn't get fined for that.
Oh, and I don't know what was up with the no camera policy. That's the first time I've encountered that (the last time I was at the SB Bowl was in late April and they allowed cameras as recent as that). I overheard some people talking about seeing Buffalo Springfield earlier in the week and that too had 'no cameras' and these people talking were complaining to an usher that no one ever enforced it.

The whole Santa barbara experience was fantastic. Scenic drive up the coast from LA, small highway motel in Ventura, tasty pizza on a whim, easy parking in SB and all of this followed by PG continuing to rock, shred, and knowall. Thanks again PG!
