I'm still trying to decide where in London to stay. I'm overwhelmed by choices, and neighborhoods to decide between. Just when I think I've decided then I read a negative comment on a travel website like: paper-thin walls, noise from the streets, etc.and start to re-think my choice again.

Last year I chose a hotel near Victoria Station, because the Gatwick Express arrives there - only, flights from Genoa now land at Stansted Airport, which is linked to Liverpool Street Station: at the other end of the city. Duh! :-] But the place was nice and clean, the breakfast good and the (all-Indian) staff very friendly. So I would gladly have returned there, but there were no rooms available for the week. Jubilee Hotel - I don't know what your budget is, maybe you're looking for a room at The Carlton or whatever :-], but you might give it a try. (Now I chose a hotel nearer to *my* station but in the same range of price).

Hi Lunies, This time 'round, while in London, I'm fortunate enough to be staying with a fellow lunie who already booked the hotel. It's a very nice classy expensive hotel, but because he was able to get a decent rate on it, we're going for it. (Might as well spoil myself a bit, yeah?). :-] :-] However, had I been on my own, I would have returned to a place that I have enjoyed in the past. The place had gotten really great reviews several years ago in travel magazines. My brother and sister-in-law and family were the first to "try it out" and subsequently, they recommended it to me when a few of us lunies traveled to London a few years ago to see PG's Still Growing UP Tour. The name of the Hotel is The Windermere Hotel, located in Victoria, London. As Caste mentioned, this hotel is also within walking distance to Victoria Station, which is useful when traveling to/from anywhere else in London. It's also a very nice area and close to lots of historical sites. I'm not sure what the prices are currently and whether or not it's within your budget, but when I was there, it was reasonable, the staff were very friendly, the food was good and the rooms were nice and clean. I'm not sure how close it is to the venue, but as I've mentioned, it's close to all forms of transportation. Here's the link: http://www.windermere-hotel.co.uk/ Good luck with your ventures!

Just booked myself into the Best Western Chiswick for 69 Pounds incl. Breakfast / Night via http://www.hrs.de Seems not to be a complete dump and compared to other places a rather good deal. Some 500m from Turnham Green (3 stops from Apollo, possibly even walking distance) and the neighborhood looks like it provides a decent chance for survival at night. http://www.bestwesternchiswickpalace.co.uk/

Every time in town, I stay at Hatton Cross - Jury's Inn. Pretty reasonable, only 1/2 block to the Tube station - on the Picadilly Line that takes you right to Hammersmith Station, and is only 1 0r 2 stations away from Heathrow. Although the meals are expensive there, there's lots of good places in Hounslow and further down the line.

Hi Dash, Me and a friend are booked in there for 1 night on the 23rd and haven't received any emails! I've actually emailed them to ask and all I got back was the standard: "Information about all of our Hotels and the facilities they offer can be found within our help section on our website at https://www.travelodge.co.uk/help/ We trust this answers your question" So I've emailed them back saying "No, it doesn't answer the question". What did they say to you in the email? I noticed you can book there from March 24th and not March 23rd! Cheers, Asifxxxx

Dario, a friend of mine who lived in the Hammersmith area, recommended me the Star Hotel on Shepherds Bush Road, for 49 pounds a night (including a continental breakfast). The best part is, it's at walking distance from the Appolo. (Not sure however if they still have room available.)

Damn, its true! Got the letter this morning. Missed it by one night i.e. it opens on the 24th! Ealing was a bit further out anyway so will look for something nearer the venue. Dash, why don't you do 4 nights from the 24th at Ealing?
