According to Dickie there will be no Verona DVD because of the cost involved re the musicians. I was also hoping that it would come out

I am prepared to be a bi dissapointed when the new DVD comes out?.why because when I was at Hammersmith London, Peter did not play Body is a cage. Yet this song went down fantastically live when I saw it in Cologne and the O2 last year. It seems strange and sad that it looks like there will be no live version of this tune.I wonder why? Regards to all Del

Wait a moment, please. There is nothing official about set-list of songs that will appear on the official DVD, so we have to be patience and wait what Peter or their staff officially will say, i think About Verona. . .i am bit sad too, but i think reason is that Peter is not happy about performance of his voice, because that magic night he had a cold. Unfortunately, because that fantastic night the New Blood Orchestra was superb, also Ane and Melanie were really lovely. . . but this is the life, Peter is the Artist, we are here to admire him! p.s. Of course i disagree with Peter, because that night he sang really fantastic, with much passion, all people felt this, but i am just a poor fan. . . PETERRRRRRR!!!!

Bluedogs: DId you talk to Dickie recently?
Apache 7 July 2011 at 7:51pm Posts: 134 (0 today) Status: offline
I'd assume that - if true - the cold PG had at the time might be he true reason - payment issues concerning the orchestra seem redicioulous to me, sorry. So theres only three err four options: 1. The rumour has nothing behind it 2. Verona is history. 3. He's gonna overdubb some sequences and still publish the thing alone because of the fantastic evening etc. (Well he IS used to overdubb unliked sequences . isn't he :-] ) 4. He's returning in September to redo the whole thing down in Verona . I'd be willing to travel waht r u guys thinking ?

Hi Lunies, I was in the company of others last week when I heard the conversation about the dvd (Verona) and unfortunately, it's true that there will be no dvd of it and from what I remember (Dar will probably remember it better, as it had been her question, if I recall correctly), the cost of the orchestra (licensing fees, perhaps?) is definitely a factor in it. Again, it might be a combination of things, but the cost of it all in the end may not be equal to the what it would net in return - this is only my opinion and I don't know that for sure. Along the same lines, I also think that the Hammersmith show that will be used is going to be the 2nd night's show (24th) because it was better. I attended the 1st night's show only, so I wouldn't know. I'm still excited about seeing it though and am looking forward to it very much! Kind regards,

The BIG and BULKY 3D cameras were only present on the first night (in London) so it should be difficult to use only the second show which - yes - was a lot better. Anyhow. thx for the info Pat

I'm pretty sure the lighter ones we saw on the second night were 3D too, probably mostly shooting what they knew was missing from the first night's shooting. And they were particularily active during Biko, for instance.

i was at hammersmith and am loking foreward to the dvd release but i still cant understand why he filmed it then!2 solitary gigs at hammersmith sounded to me like a knee jerk reaction to him not been happy when he sore the verona show.it would have made much more sense to have filmed the show near the end of the north american tour, when he had got the setlist just as he wanted it,and he seemed much more into it.its all well and good using a studio to rehearse for hammersmith but you cant beat actual shows as rehearsals.

I completely agree Chawin. And Secret World won't appear on the DVD.

.or my body is a cage, or heroes
Reminic 8 July 2011 at 8:39pm Posts: 133 (0 today) Status: offline
(I just checked my pictures from the second night, the ones in front of the stage were definitely 3D) It brings back the memories. I wish I could have traveled to SPAC. I'm hoping for at least one more date in Europe - I would love to hear it again with the latest additions. Verona had something special, but I understand the decision - with the Hammersmith release, it might not make much sense to go through the was process to create a full master. But I can't keep hoping that, if My Body is a Cage isn't in the Hammersmith release, they'll be able to put the one recorded at Verona as a bonus. Only 2D, ok, no problem, really! I would go hunt for it even it is was black and white!

If I remember correctly, Dickie said that the soundtrack from the second show, which was better, would be used with the 3D filming of the first night. There will also be some of the 2D filming within the entire DVD itself. If you saw both shows you may agree that the second show was much better sound wise if not filming wise. I had specifically asked this question because I was in the first row for Verona and was hoping to have 'proof' of my attendance! I was quite disappointed to hear it won't be available. The Hammersmith show will also be a bit disappointing as I was in the first row (thanks to Reminic) in the second show only! Poo! Can't wait though for the New Blood album with all of PG's songs!

my opinion: I think "3 D" killed the Verona-DVD-project. I noticed in early spring of 2011 that many new movies are filmed in "3 D" and so on. Feels like if you put the stamp "3 D" on it, a movie is more trendy, more hip, whatever. If they had those 3-D-cameras back in Verona 2010, we now could exspect a "Verona 2010 3-D"-DVD-release. Let`s hope we all get a lot of joy from the "New Blood Live in London 3-D"-release.

Well - after sleeping a couple of nights over the issue I've come to the conclusion that it might be better to not publish it in the first place so that the folks having been there can remember it as a first hand *exclusive* experience - which it most definitely has been.
