Rraven, any words of wisdom about traveling in Germany? My daughter Erin and I will be flying to Munich and traveling by train to Heidelberg, to see Peter in Mannheim. I know you flew to Berlin back in March, and I guess back to Berlin for the Leipzig show. Laura

I've never been to Mannheim, but if the people are half as nice as they were to a total stranger in Berlin, you'll be able to get around. It would be best to get a German phrase book or print out some common German expressions. Signs will be in German, but I think in Munich airport signs are in German and English. Trains are much more comfortable and much more reliable in Europe than in America.
I fly from Philadelphia to Munich and then get a connecting flight to Leipzig. Fun, Fun.
That's all I can think of at the moment.

Thanks for the info. I'm hopeful that there will be enough English speaking people around to help us out from time to time. I will have a book, with some helpful German phrases, but I don't imagine I'm going to have too many phrases memorized. We'll be in Munich during Oktoberfest so I'm sure there will be lots of travelers from all over the world there. Once we're in the Mannheim area Erika will be with us alot of the time, so that will be tremendously helpful. Your trip is less than a month away!! My tickets for the Mannheim show arrived by delivery this past Monday morning. I'm doing the VIP Soundcheck in Verona, but in Mannheim I ordered regular tix in a section near Erika's. It feels great to have an actual ticket in hand for that show, since as you know the ticket for the sound check will have to wait until the day of the show.
Thanks Rena.

The folks I met in Berlin seemed quite tolerant of body language as a form of communication. If you can find an Internet cafe near your hotel/B & B/wherever, jot down a few confusing signs in the area and do a quick Babelfish translation.
I fly out on Sept 11 and I'm this far from being stone cold broke and had a migraine hit me at 4:30 this morning (gone now.) I'm not entirely sure booking this Leipzig trip would have been an act that King Solomon would have approved of.
But I loved the 2 shows I saw and how their differnces and wonder if the show will evolve some more.

When do you fly over? It's coming up quickly! The Verona show is only 3 weeks away! Leipzig is just over a week away.

What do you plan to do before the show? Are you going to see some sights around the area?

Well, I will probably have a migraine due to jet lag when I arrive, so tht takes care of 12 Sept and posible 13 Sept. I had planned on doing some sight-seeing because Bach worked in Leipzig ages ago and someone on the forum mentioned an art exhibition.
BUT
In July my health turned for the worse (possibly endometriosis, but of course, no one is sure) and so I lost my sight seeing money to medical bills, bloodtests, ultrasound, that sort of crap.
So now I'm hoping I can find an Intenet cafe for entertainment, go to wherever I can walk to and will take along an empty notebook and try to do some first drafts of articles for clients.
Not unless PG has any plans for me, that is - but that never seems to materialize.
