For those of us going early (like around 1:30 or 2 pm)on Friday to the Hollywood Bowl show - I just telephoned and spoke with Laurel, at group sales, and this is what she said:
There WILL be a parking attendant there early to take our money ($22) to park, but it won't necessarily be upper terrace parking, but rather lower terrace, still an easy walk to the picnic area. We are supposed to talk to an attendant named Teddy if there are any problems. Often they do not have the parking lots "open" so early, which means you could have parking access, but not park without a fine (if you didn't purchase a parking pass) once it gets close to show time.
There ARE some non-stacked spots, but you have to get there early, and there's no guarantee that they will be available, or that you would be able to leave and then come back! If you're coming for the soundcheck, I would definitely plan on staying the remainder of the day, and hang out with your fellow Lunatics.
Sometimes it's just plain easier for people to park at other options in the area. Once I parked at the Renaissance Hotel, down Highland Ave., and about a 15 minute walk to the Bowl. Their parking is only $10, I believe. It can still take forever to get out of their structure (it took about an hour after The Police concert!) - but anywhere around the Bowl is a mess once the performance lets out.
And it's a 7 pm start time - don't be late.

Thanks for posting! As a newbie to the bowl, I am grateful for the extra info- I have heard parking is a nightmare!
