Because of the feel of the song and its structure. The way pg is talking about the affinity between metcalfe and stravinsky indicates that he'd be very pleased to present something"like" rise on spring on stage. pg clearly says that he's most pleased with the pieces that aren't "just" classic pop arrangements, that he's trying to push metcalfe beyond the limits - and what better to do than the 2nd part of selling .? There's no such song in pg's own catalogue. This song really gives the chance to focus first on a contemporary interpretation of the beautiful vocal part and then try to find a way through this really demanding and rhythmically still very modern instrumental part - without drums and guitars!!! That would be really interesting and pg likes interesting stuff. If there's a genesis-song, it's that one. IMO

I think it's a good choice indeed but it's not the most famous Genesis track from the Gabriel era. But if this track was chosen for the show, i would be delighted.

Do you really think fame was the relevant point for picking the songs? I think, we can exclude this.

I know you gonna dislike this request but I wish "Solsbury Hill" to be part of the set list. We will bring our 8 years son to the London concert. This will be his first concert ever and, so far, this song is his favorite. Would be such a trhill for our son.
Besides, if there were 1 song from the Genesis catalogue to be picked up, I would go for "The Lamia", "Carpet Crawlers"or extracts from "Supper's ready".
From PG solo catalogue :
Humdrum
San Jacinto
Lay your hands on me
Red Rain
Mercy street
Love to be loved
Secret World

Great choice Part Des Anges! I see that I'm not the only one asking for "the lamia"

Let's hope Peter will include one Genesis song.

Same thing for me Ceridwen. I would like to hear songs that are not played very often and the 4 tracks that you list would be incredible. I wish i could know what will be the definitive set list.
