I saw the show November 1982 in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens and 26 years later it still lives with me. The show had what I call the "it" factor. Gabriel pulled all the stops in this one if you ask me. He really had it "going on". The concert was mystical and confident. Gabriel was a master in "movement" and this played a big factor in getting his points across. The show didn't have all of the "props" from any other of his tours and the lighting was all contrast from black to white with all shades of the two in between. I have not seen a performance as such - every again - either form Gabriel or anybody else for that matter. Ever. Does anyone else feel the same way I do about these particular show's from the Fall of 1982? The summer tour of 1983 (which I think was called "Play Time 1985") came nowhere near what the Security Tour from the previous Fall did. Does anyone know of any film that may exist from the Fall part of the tour? Abro (I also posted this over at genesis-music.com for thoughts also. )

Abro, I hope you get this post, it has been awhile since you posted this. I this concert in December of 1982 in Los Angeles. I would agree with everything you have said. This was a very special event for me and something happened at this concert that I have never experienced before. I don't know if Peter did this in other concerts or it was just unique to this one event. I would love to ask Peter if he remembers this. Peter has a special way of connecting with his audience and here is a good example. Peter was into his encoure set. It was the second to last song and he played "Kiss of Life." My friend and I, by this time, had moved our way up to just in front of the stage. During this song, with the drums going crazy, he had people from back stage come out and start dancing on stage with him. I recall him saying "everybody dance." At this point, a couple of people from the audience hop on stage and start dancing. Security came out to push them off stage but Peter motioned to them to stop. At this point, my friend and I looked at each other and then hopped onto the stage. There were probably about 50 of us on stage during this song. I made my way over to Peter and put my arm around him as he finished the song. Once the song was over, Secruity motioned us off stage and he Peter finished the concert with Biko. Best concert experience ever.

August 9, 1983 I went to Vancouver to see David Bowie, PG was the 2nd act - I lost all interest in Bowie after I saw Peter for the first time - took my daughter to see him when he returned in July 1993 - didn't go to the Growing up tour in 2002 or 2003 and he hasn't come back to Vancouver since. Loved the face makeup - a few years later we had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe and they had the white shirt he wore that night framed on the wall

I saw the 1983 leg in the UK. 9th July in fact at the open air venue, Selhurst Park (a football ground in South London). He was supported, for some reason by The Undertones and the Thompson Twins. It was a really sunny hot day and I remember him starting with Across the River, I think. Humdrum was great too, I think. It's been a long time. I remember Kiss of Life not quite working , and I don't remember being brilliant! Biko ended the set I think, and I was sad that rhythm of the heat was played (although memory is shaky!). I was obsessed with the PG4 album and the drumming in particular... Anyway, it was really good with everyone in party mood around. The problem was after the gig when I decided to go down to Brighton on the train instead of home. I had the idea i could sleep on the beach (I had, literally, no money on me after paying for the train ticket ! Don't ask me why, I was 20 at the time. These things happen. Trouble is, I only had a skimpy tee shirt on cos it was so hot. But it soon became apparent that it was turning colder, in fact freezing and I ended up tramping around Brighton all night. I was moved on by Police a few times for huddling in the station, and finally settled for a couple of fitful hours in a doorway under some old newspapers! My one day as a tramp! In the morning I persuaded a kindly lady to give me the fare home for the first train. I wish I knew her name, she saved me So a good gig, but a very bad post-gig experience!

^ oops, I meant, i was sad that Rhythm of the Heat WASN'T played! In fact I was really gutted. I had expected it to be in the set. Actually, I had been at Milton Keynes the year before to see Genesis and PG "six of the best" and was so disappointed they didn't do RotH then - with Phil on drums! (instead of Solsbury Hill...). I was a drummer at the time, so I was very rhythmically focused! That gig was amazing though, and very very very WET! The opposite of Selhurst Park

I attended both gigs you mentioned one of us,the olden days lol.Already looking forwarb to Manchester next year.

got to see peter for the first time in boston fri nov 12 1982 it was at the orpheum theatre which is still there the band walked in thru the main enterance band members playing the drums as they walked in peter of course in front the rodies were carying the flashlights they were playing the beat of rythem of the heat as they walk up on the stage band members took there spots and of course peter hand some steps to a platform about maybe ten feet high and then ripped out Rythem of the heat blew me away i think the show blew everyone away not just me i have not missed a show since when he comes and plays in the boston area
