I like what Peter is doing right now but it's nothing compared to the time he used to sing things like Dancing with the Moonlit Knight wich is such a beautiful song. I don't want Peter to get back in Genesis but maybe he could try some old things back or try different forms of music. Maybe Jazz or soul or some old prog or experimental music.

Personally i think songs like "Dancing. . ." are really beautiful as you said, but. . . bit old. . .i do not know to present these songs today. . . you have to consider they were written in a cultural, historical and economic context of 70's. . . . .today is another dimension. . . maybe only nostalgic fans would appreciate and understand. . . .in my opinion of course.
Peter is an Artist who never looks at his past, especially Genesis time. . . but personally i always consider that nothing can be taken for granted with Peter. . .so. . .who knows?

I agree that as an artist, PG continues to evolve and inspire, but, revisiting early Genesis would cause more than a ripple of excitement amongst his army of "nostalgic" fans!.The lyrics written in that era were way ahead of their time, and still have much relevance in the 21st century.I, for one, would love to hear PG tweak some "old" Genesis material!

Can't deny that's a beautiful song Ivan the T. Peter sang it equally beautifully, but he's moved on. As Dolce says Peter tends not too look back for inspiration. I can't imagine him doing prog rock now. His music has encompassed so many different influences and certainly has been experimental. He might not be a soul singer in the obvious sense but I think soul deeply influences his work. Always thought of him as an eclectic, outward looking musician and not one who fits a style. In fact I think that's part of the attraction.
If PG were to do a new take on an old Genesis song maybe the "nostalgic" fans Starchaser666 mentions wouldn't be that happy? Still, we always expect the unexpected with PG so who knows?
