I remember when the "Us"-record came out in 1992, they were celebrating the "10 Years of WOMAD" - there was also an article about this in the "Box-Magazine" (PG-fan-paper) at that time.
See how time flies. . . .

Just heard from my sister who is going to WOMAD in Adelaide. Lucky her to see Dub Colossus but I don't envy her the temperature. Apparently it will be about 40 degrees-phew.

Toumast, Imelda May, The Drummers of Barundi, Rolf Harris and his band, Afro Celts . . . . . . where else would you find such a diverse line up?

I am still holding out for Speed Caravan but maybe that's just greedy. ANyhow I agree Sesmo-the lineup already looks fantastic.
All we need now are some decent WCs! Oh and some sun :-]

I see even more added to the line-up. Not going to have time to eat or sleep!
John Metcalfe and Simon Hale will be playing improvised music with the Bays & Heritage Orchestra. Like the sound of that.

you might remember my lavish praise for Baka Beyond. I went on to the WOMAD Forum and begged them to invite them to WOMAD. I'll have to try again later for 2011 - probably too late for this year.

for me personally "Across the River" was always the "theme"-song for WOMAD in 1982, while "Shaking the Tree" was the "anthem" for the new REAL WORLD-label in 1989.
The connection and fusion of WOMAD and REAL WORLD was musically to be heard and seen in 1993/1994 with the "Secret World"-tour-concept for that tour, when the song "Across the River" was always followed by "Shaking the Tree" on the setlist.

I discovered today that there is a Celtic group called The Elders:

Don't know much about them. Have they ever done WOMAD? Would WOMAD veteran festival goers welcome a group like this?

Wow Raven, Ive just had a look at a couple of live tracks from The Elders.
I cant really call myself a "veteran" of WOMAD, but in my humble Lunatic opinion they would go down a storm.
Rain or shine, mud or dust, how could you not get up and swing your appendages to that??!
