I have a short 3 minute student film that I want to send to some local festivals for feedback. The only problem is the soundtrack contains the Peter Gabriel song "The Drop." I've attempted writing a new soundtrack to it, but the song fits so well, it's almost painful to strip it out. Is there any way I could get permission to use it for festival exhibition only? There is a link to it below, and as you will see, it's nothing spectacular, it's not a money maker (I would never think to do such a thing with Peter's music on it), but I think it's an interesting short film with a nice message (plus it's my first attempt at filmmaking so it has some sentimental value as well), so I'd like to see if I could get some feedback along with my other student films.
