Out of all the concert DVDs, which one is your favorite? I don't have any of them yet, so I would love to have everyone's opinion.

For me "Secret World live". . . The Band, female voice and Peter, all are really on top! . . .and the scenery, the brilliant idea of the stage with male and female part. . . .wonderful, really wonderful

"Growing Up" is a fantastic film - i like the sound created by the Peter Gabriel Band.

I love Growing Up, it's brilliant. The band sound great and the visuals are stunning yet intimate. Mind you, so is Secret World Live.but I think I just prefer Ged L on drums, more solid than Manu K.

Secret World live is my favorite. The concept was more powerful than the Growing Up tour in my opinion.

Okay. Secret World Live it is to start with, then Growing Up Live. I have the "Growing Up on Tour" video and what I've seen of it is really cool. Thanks everyone!

I'm still in doubt between Growing Up Live and Still Growing Up, and biased against Secret World Live, because it doesn't have Mel. :-]

Secret World Live is a better concert. Growing Up looks much better on DVD though.

Growing Up, as a film looks fantastic and is shot brilliantly, but Secret World makes me smile more! Both are great. I think the setlist on SW shades it because I just can't get enough of 'Us'! :-]

Secret World is better, however the shoddy 16mm transfer is horrible in my opinion. Sorry, but there's too much compression. PLEASE.give us a Blu-ray of this.would do it so much justice!

have to say both, can't decide.

I prefer GUL to SW. Better picture, better sound and the band is more tight (I think). But for sure I could do without the 'upside down' trick.
DolceVita 28 August 2011 at 2:31pm Posts: 2321 (0 today) Status: offline
Yes, but you have to consider that there are almost 10 years between Secret World and Growing UP, technology changes! Peter is a precursor of time, and if you think that Secret World was done in 90's you relize that we are in front of a really incredible Work, ahead of the time, no artist can best than Peter!

I prefer POV, which has never been released in DVD.
Fidelity 18 October 2011 at 7:20pm Posts: 313 (0 today) Status: offline
Dolce, Secret World has the same quality as Growing Up. They just effed up when transferring from the film.

So if they did a re-release someone who knows how to do it correctly could do a better job then? I remember it being really poor when i first got the dvd compared to the vhs, it was full of grain but when watched recently on newer kit it didn't seem so bad. My New Blood dvd just arrived and I think its just gone to the top of my list and i was there along with all my lunatic friends. Some of the 3d effects are second only to avatar, it helps that they are special effects but if someone from Doctor Who sees it I reckon it won't be long before there is a 3D special with very similar effects to signal to noise in.

Secret World is my choice. Although I think the actual concert was much more exciting than the video itself. Fearing to lose all my Peter Gabriel VHS's, I took them to a studio and copied them on DVDs. A wee bit of loss in the picture quality, but now I am at peace. DVDs, back-ups on external hard disks If you have it, I'd suggest you watch PoV one again. Makes you feel young again
