Yep - "Shock the Monkey" was on the pole position for 8 weeks on Mtv. At that time there were no music-awards.
"Monkey" would have been a canditate for "Video of the Year" ! I must say I cannot think of any better video-clip from 1982. Even the Duran Duran-videos ("Kings of Video-Pop") from that year do not have the high standard as we get to see on the "Monkey"-clip.
Especially the North-American fans somehow liked and loved "Shock the Monkey".
Many fans and lunatics here mention and list "San Jacinto" as on of their favourite songs. This song always finds his way back on the PG-tour-setlist since its 1st release.
For me there is a "special" atmosphere, feeling and mood on "IV/Security" that cannot be found on any other Gabriel-release. Peter himself knows of course how much work he put into this record and he also knows about the fact, that his "hardcore-fans" love this album the most.
"The Rhythm of the Heat", "Lay Your Hands on Me" and "Wallflower" would find their place on my favourite "top-ten-list". You can get the best "images" for "Wallfower" by watching Alan Parker`s film "Birdy" with Nicholas Cage and Mathew Modine - I`m sure it was this song, that made Alan Parker choose out Gabriel to do the soundtrack.
Robbie Robertson`s mix for "I Have The Touch" in 1996 for the "Phenomenon"-soundtrack with John Travolta is also a fine and delicate mix.
