I recently purchased this DVD via an Amazon.co.uk Marketplace seller. Evidently, they ended up having to source this from Argentina! (Nice stamps)
Firstly: is this rare / very difficult to get hold of at present?
Secondly: if any of you also own this DVD, can you confirm that the audio and visual tracks on YOUR copy are very slightly (and very distractingly) out of sync.?
Thirdly: Is the fact that the DVD was produced from an original VHS recording the reason for this flaw? Could this ever be rectified if a future attempt was made at reburning the DVD and reissued for sale? (You can see, my techy knowledge is limited.)

Well Mistress - I don`t know if this will help you, but all I can say is, that some songs on the audio-cd are shorter and some are longer compared to the DVD/VHS.
The DVD itself can be found in every record store.
. . . and there are some more DVD´s - check them out - you will like them !

Thanks for replying, Cimber.
I think the only thing I can do is buy another copy of the Secret World Live DVD from Peter's own store and see if that is any better.
I have 5 other DVDs and a couple more I'm considering.
Bye bye

Just been to the on-line shop to discover that Secret World Live DVD is not available there either (Out Of Stock). When I tried to click through on the link to the preview of this DVD, I arrived at a different artist's video altogether. Reading Peter's own comments on the DVD, it SEEMS as if he acknowledges a problem with the sync-ing has been raised. Perhaps the DVD has been withdrawn (and is therefore so rare) because of people's criticisms?
Any further comments from fans welcome.
Watching this space.

Hi wardrobe mistress. I have the same edition, here in argentina you can find this dvd easily here it's not dificult to get. I read many reviews and it seems that the out of sync problem is present in all of the copies. Also the picture quality isn't very good.

Mistress. . .you are right, the "SWL"-DVD is really out of stock on Peter`s online-shop! (???)
I´ve been looking for my DVD the last days. . .chaos in my back-room

. . .
Just been watching "Eden" and "Jacinto" - actually NO "sync-problems" on it - (will take some time out to watch the whole DVD.)

I have watched the Secret World DVD many times and have recently watched it (past two weeks). I didn't notice any problems with the audio or video. No out of sync problems either.
And Cimber. . .you must get more organized! :-]

I originally had a VHS tape of this concert. I just purchased (6 July 2009) a DVD from Amazon.com in the US. The DVD is available and the video transfer quality, while not nearly as good as the Growing Up Live DVD, is acceptable. The performance, as I'm sure most people here know, is amazing.
If this DVD isn't available elsewhere, perhaps we can figure out a way for people in Europe to get a US copy from Amazon. I've not check to see if this is a region free or region 1. It is NTSC of course but most of my friends in Europe have multi-format players so perhaps that would be an issue. I don't particularly want to get into the DVD exporting business but I'd considering buying a copy or two from Amazon here and forwarding them on. Unless I'm stepping on someone's toes doing that.

Just to say I bought the DVD(digitally re-mixed & re-mastered) here in UK, from a small record shop. It is fine quality wise and no sync problems. It only took about a week to arrive.

There are clips from the "1st leg of the Secret World Tour" :
Search for "peter gabriel multicam audience 1993" on you tube - NICE

- Joy Askew on keyboards - also doing some fine female vocals on "Shaking The Tree"
- "Lovetown" - LIVE !!!
- many more (Games, Talk, Frog,. . .)
----------------------------
The LAST concert of this tour was at "Woodstock 1994":
- search for "peter gabriel woodstock 94"
Peter was the HEADLINER on the last of 3 days of Woodstock II in 1994.
----------------------------
"Red Rain" from "Secret World Live" was nominated for "Best Rock Vocal"-performance in 1995.
Peter won the Grammy for "Best Long Form"-video for "Secret World Live" in 1995.
----------------------------
So we had at least 3 different female vocalists on this tour:
1) Joy Askew (also on keyboards)
2) Sinead O`Connor
3) Paula Cole
----------------------------
Another good performance:
"Digging In The Dirt" - live from Argentina 1993
(youtube: "peter gabriel digging in the dirt argentina")
----------------------------
. . ."Making it up in our Secret World"

It`s good - simply fantastic to have these "multicam"-clips from `93. A nice addition and alternative to the "Secret World"-film.

I wonder why "Lovetown" was cut?
I saw the Secret World Tour live in NYC and would have loved to see this song performed live!

Thanks MAK especially for GWF. Love that his shirt keeps getting tucked and untucked presumably becasue the clips are sewn together. The voice is so on form.

There was no need to cut out such a great song like "Lovetown" out of the setlist - what we get to see on the link above is GREAT - musically AND visually.
No wonder that the hardcore-fans were very PLEASED, when Peter performed this song again in 2007 in Europe on his "Warm Up"-tour.

Hi everyone this is my first post here

I just want to get something straight, there is no Secret World DVD with crisp, clear quality? I read reviews from other sites and it's mostly negetive, concerning the picture and sound quality. Other people say it's fine.
I really want to buy this DVD but only if the quality is good, I don't want to buy a lemon.

Hello Lanegan and welcome to the Moon!
I guess it all depends what you want from the DVD. The performance is absolutely fantastic and when you think of some of the terrible quality videos we happily watch on youtube. . .
I'd willingly accept something less than perfect as far as picture quality is concerned, but everyone is different. I wonder if you can hire the DVD, not sure if that is possible.
