This month, David will go into the studio to record a solo album. He's written a great bunch of songs and wrangled a group of excellent musicians to help him out, including Richard Evans, Ged Lynch, Dean Brodrick and Charlie Jones.
The album, called Bittersweet, will initially be released for download through the Bower and Wilkins Music Club. No timetable is set as of yet, but studio work begins next week. We'll be sure to keep you advised as we get new information.
In other news, David worked on Daniel Mimra's new album, which was released last month. You can hear a few of the songs on his site.

David`s songs are nice, warmhearted and beautiful.
"Down by the River" (Various artists-"Plus from US" - Realworld CD 33 )could beat anything played on the radio. By chance I got to this Japanese "Snowflake"-recording some years ago, where Gabriel is the narrator. David`s songs :
"come home to me now" and "out of grey skies - white snow falls". - beautiful!

The Snowflake music is beautiful, I agree. In point of fact, David wrote all of the music on Snowflake together with Akira Inoue, and sings all of the songs in English (including "You Give Me Courage", which is only on the disc with the Japanese narration).

I bought it in Berlin back in 1997 as a Japan-import and
spent a fortune on it. Apart from David`s brilliant music PG`s narration is also nice, he has always been good in telling stories as an introduction to a song since his Genesis-days during live concerts. Guess what he does with his 2 boys when it`s time for bed.
Some 15 years ago I had recorded "Down by the River" on a tape and played it down by the river "Rhein" - the people who were with me liked the song very much.
My favourite scene with David is on "Secret World Live"
- it`s that scene in "Slow Marimbas" between "Across the River" and "Shaking the Tree", when the whole band moves over to the round stage - David looking back up to some reflecting light shimmering down like the moon.
The funniest scene: Peter and David doing the "big time-dance" (my only source therefore on youtube, search - "Peter Gabriel - spectrum ".)
At the end of "Solsbury Hill" live in Mainz in 2007 David fell over a cable, no big injury, but painful - one fan filmed the performance (my source again on youtube, search "Peter Gabriel - Mainz".)
Who needs any "70ies-reunion" as long as PG has Tony on his right and of course David on his left side?
A few days ago I was listening to a track called "Ye,Ye,Ye" by Realworld-artist Geoffrey Oryema on the "Long way Down"-Realworld soundtrack with Ewan McGregor - I knew the song already from the 1990 "Exile"-record by Oryema, but this time I first realized this one guitar-line in the middle of the song and thought: "Damn, this could only be David!"
Last: check out "Peter Gabriel - Lovetown - Mainz" (only source: youtube.com). David`s dramatic guitar performance at the end of the song.
Why not letting David release his solo-stuff on Realworld records?
