Forums » Art » Play DVD DTS issues.replacement?

Does anyone know if Warner or PG is (still) replacing the Play DVD that has the DTS flag error (24/96 DTS sound level is 30 db lower than lossy Dolby Dig due to DTS flag misread). My copy is still fine sounding, but at dangerously high volume settings and only medium actual db output. God help me if I accidentally switch audio layers or forget to reset the volume back down. We're talking equipment damage.Word on the net was that it was being replaced if needed? By whom? Even if the answer is no, I'd love to know how to differentiate the "fixed" version so I don't buy the original one again. Thanks, Ted_B

I was just going to create a new topic but found this so I'll post it here. I bought the Play DVD a couple of months ago and just today I put it on my home theatre system and unfortunately realized that the DTS mix sounds like shit. Maybe it's the same problem Ted_b described, but on my DVD it sounds very very low and even at maximum volume it still sounds low and awfull. Besides, I want to know about the 5.1 mix, the volume is ok but there's some instruments missing some times, it sounds wierd. I noticed that very easily at the begining of Big Time for example, where the drums are missing, they can't be heard at all and start to sound later in the song (bass and snare drum at least). Is it like that on all DVDs or there's a problem with mine? I don't think the mix is supposed to be like that cos it sounds nothing like the original songs some times. Maybe it's just the Argentinian edition, cos there's always something wrong with them, for example some times there's no DTS or 5.1 mix even if the back cover says so, or if it's a double DVD it's the same DVD twice, and what's for sure is that the cover is printed in an awfull quality. I'm so tired of this shit. Then they complain about piracy. why would anybody buy an original copy, quite expensive by the way, if there's always something wrong with it?
