Hello,
I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as i am trying to find a copy of the studio version of Across the river with Stewart Copeland and Shankar, i think it appeared on the womad Cd music and rhythm, i have always listened to the live version but there is definitely something special about the studio recording.
Thanks,
John

It can be found on the UK 7" single I Have the Touch / Across the River (1982)
and on the UK 5" CD single Big Time extended / Curtains / No Self Control / Across the River / Big Time (1987).
Both are quite common and not very expensive on eBay. Hope it helps.

i can`t find the CD-single right now, but i think "Across the River" (studio) is also on the "Kiss That Frog"-CD-single.

You, Sir, are correct.
It's on the "special" European edition with the detachable postcards, cat. no. PGSDX 10, digipack.
And also on the Dutch issue, housed in the usual slim jewel case, cat no. PGSDF 10.
I had forgotten about that.

one thing comes to my mind about this "Kiss That Frog"-CD of mine:
it features 5 tracks, but not the original short "Mindblender"-(video)-mix (note: the version on "PLAY" is a newer remix by Lanois i think). That dissapointed me at that time. There are obviously other single-edits/versions with different CD-covers,
"Across the River" is special: for me it belongs to the "Security / peter gabriel 4"-era. It`s also associated with WOMAD.

There are three versions of KTF on various singles:
KIss That Frog Mindblender mix edit
KIss That Frog Mindblender mix
KIss That Frog edit
You sure have the jewel case CD single (5 tracks) - the only issue that has KIss That Frog Mindblender mix edit is the one I wrote about in the above post, cat. no. PGSDX 10.

yes, my CD has got the same art work, but it is a variation of it.
"PGSDF 10" is the catalogue number.
1. "Kiss That Frog" (edit of ALBUM version) 4.15min. (only a short album version)
2. "Digging in the Dirt" (rich e mix) mix by Richard Evans
3. "Across the River" (original studio with S. Copeland, etc.)
4. "Kiss That Frog" (Mindblender mix) 6.45min (not the short Mindblender mix !)
5. "Shaking the Tree" (Botrill Mix)
The "Mindblender Mix" was or is actually a WILLIAM ORBIT-mix, who became much more popular later on for his work with various artists.
