Take A Wild Guess 13 November 2011 at 4:30pm Posts: 968 (0 today) Status: offline
Yes, really. Home Sweet Home is not only sung well but some pretty powerful imagery in the lyrics. I think it's an excellent example of not only PG's singing at the time, but how his songwriting skils were leaping forward.

I almost had that on my list too, however I got rid of it and kept Indigo... it's a neat story.

Cool idea and pretty difficult to do, i've just stuck a selection in my playlist and it over 40 already with lots of folders to go. We can pick any live dvd/vhs inc POV , still growing up ect. That has 2004 Jools Holland so can we assume 2011 Jools Holland will be on the next one and allow that ? and why no encore sky blue live which ends with a firework display is a mint version and some great tracks are on the 2007 tour list. I think i'll have to do a studio cd1 and then live cd2.

Can we use the recent radio 2 gig set list also?
One of Us 14 November 2011 at 9:28am Posts: 266 (0 today) Status: offline
Yes why not Cebs!
One of Us 14 November 2011 at 9:32am Posts: 266 (0 today) Status: offline
Don't get me wrong TAWG, Home Sweet Home is fine but for a best of? Not for me, a bit forced and twee lyrically for my taste. Indigo just missed my list tho (love that song) as did Exposure!
cebs 14 November 2011 at 11:17am Posts: 141 (0 today) Status: offline
Ok, done my live cd but it ended up as 23 by itself so i'll think i will do two release a studio 2 cd pack and a live 2 cd pack. 1. Here Comes The Flood (in German - Vinyl b-side) 2. Games Without Frontiers (Still Growing Up Live DVD) 3. I Go Swimming (Plays Live (highlights)) 4. Family Snapsho (Blickling 21-07-07) 5 No Self Control (Blickling 21-07-07) 6. Love Town (Blickling 21-07-07) 7. Apres Moi (Hammersmith March 2011) 8. The Power Of The Heart (Hammersmith March 2011) 9. My Body Is A Cage (Hammersmith March 2011) 10. Downside Up (Radio 2 Gig Nov 2011) 11. More Than This (Live Jools Holland Nov 2002) 12. Signal To Noise (Witness 97) 13. Digging in the Dirt (Hammersmith March 2011) 14. Burn You Up_ Burn You Down (PG Big Room Session Nov 04) 15. The Tower That Ate People (PG Big Room Session Nov 04) 16. San Jacinto (Hammersmith March 2011) 17. Father, Son (Live Jools Holland Nov 2002).mp3 18. Lay Your Hands On Me (Womad 2007) 19. In Your Eyes (46664 dvd) 20. Biko (46664 dvd) 21. Red Rain (jools holland live 2011).mp3 22. Secret World (Radio 2 Gig Nov 2011) 23. Solsbury Hill (Hammersmith March 2011) I've cheated a bit with a few encore tracks but they are too good to leave out imo. I might change a few tracks later but i will burn this now and give it a listen in the care this afternoon.
One of Us 14 November 2011 at 2:31pm Posts: 266 (0 today) Status: offline
That's a brilliant line-up Cebs! Dont mind a bit if cheating. In fact I especially approve because that's me shouting out "thank you Peter!" between Lovetown and No self Control at Blickling! ...to which PG replies "if I knew your name, I'd use it right now" ...what a guy

Cheers, I was there that night too and your part is funny, very clear bit of banter on that cd. I always like the talking between tracks which for some reason never seem to make the dvd/official releases. My only problem is that I cannot play the realworld wav files anymore, the pc I bought them on died ages ago and I cannot register them in order to play them. Anyone know a way round this as that night was good and at the end of that Peter replies to me 'oh yeah see you tomorrow then' as we were of to Brighton the next day. Studio 2 cd set list to follow.

Big Room session - http://bigozine2.com/roio/?p=652 - I also saw PG at Brighton the following day!

I want to switch from Sky Blue to the Martyn Bennett Remix
cebs 15 November 2011 at 6:26pm Posts: 141 (0 today) Status: offline
Cheers for that link Mr Beef, i've never found another source once the option to buy disappeared and then they only ever ran on the pc you bought them on. I've a similar problem with the 5.1DD versions of the UP album, you got those by any chance? That's not too bad as I have the 5.1 super audio cd but still annoying once you buy them and can no longer play them. I better get my studio list done before it looks like i nicked everyone else's idea's as Partyman and Sky Blue remix on my list too.
cebs 15 November 2011 at 6:43pm Posts: 141 (0 today) Status: offline
Mr beef , have you got all those tracks ? tracks 3 and 9 are dead links at the moment but I will keep my eye on the site incase they get fixed. track 3 = Games Without Frontiers track 9 = Shock The Monkey Hopefully they will turn up, just having a listen now for the first time in years so thanks again Mr Beef !!
Mr Beef 16 November 2011 at 6:37pm Posts: 761 (0 today) Status: offline
Cebs, yes I have all the tracks but probably the easiest way (the file size is fairly large) is to email the website and ask them to reactivate the dead links - I've done this in the past and they are really helpful. If that doesn't work we'll have to think of something else. Glad to know you've got at least some of the music back for now.
cebs 16 November 2011 at 9:19pm Posts: 141 (0 today) Status: offline
mate if you can zip the 2 tracks up and mail them I'd be grateful. d.phelan@yahoo.co.uk Thanks in advance

I'm not sure if this i considered "cheaing" but I'm replacing this version of Shaking the Tree with the version from GIutar Center Sessions.

OH, by shaking the Tree i meant here comes the flood FROM Shaking the tree

I feel like a wanker for not yet getting this project done. I do have a very good excuse though (besides being lazy). I've just moved into a new flat last week and I really am busy trying to unpack everything. Being as it's just me and my back is not behaving, it is taking a lot longer than I would like. I'm now hoping to have my list of top twenty-three PG songs done by Christmas (and I do mean Christmas of THIS YEAR!) Or earlier, as after surgery on the 2nd, I will not be able to do much of anything so lots of time on my hands. Really enjoying the lists that ARE up, this is a neat and fun project. The going back into Peter's musical history and all.

Hey SR, go easy on yourself. You need to get other stuff sorted that's ok, it doesn't make you a wanker. We're patient and understanding here!
