Why doesn't anyone like Slowburn? Seriously, almost everyone has included it. That's one of my faves of the first album. What's everyone's reasoning for that? I would agree on Kiss of Life and Kiss that Frog (though Frog has an amazing bridge section, the rest is just. yeah, not as cool). Also, Cimber - you rock! Glad someone appreciates those moody tracks. I don't know why everyone is scared of those shifts or of the things deemed "depressing;" that's what his music is about for me, the oscillation between the light and the dark. My Head and The Drop are some of the highlights of his career (Up as a whole pretty much, axshully).

I love Slowburn!

. . . music and especially lyrics, because they are ahead of the times.
Peter, as usual, is a precursor of time.

I don't dislike Slowburn, it's just that I like all the other tracks better. I like the song, but I rarely seek it out to listen to it.
And yeah, I have no problem with depressing music. Actually I love it. And as you said 'the oscillation between the light and the dark' is the most fascinating thing about PG for me, too. :-]

hrm. all of Up? a few of my favorites are on that album, but for whatever reason, i just can't seem to really like Burn You Up. i don't dislike it, but, like Soil said about Slowburn, i won't seek it out. and i don't really dislike Slowburn, either. PG1 is a brilliant album!
i do like The Barry Williams Show for its social commentary about talk shows. they're garbage. and now so-called reality shows? there's gotta be something better people can do with their time and money.
[embarassed] i don't actually know all of PG2 or PG4. Home Sweeet Home is one i don't seek out either.

'the oscillation between the light and the dark' - by Floamduddy.
Very lovely expression to try to explain Music of Peter, i agreee!
Ceridwen, me too i prefer Slowburn than Barry William, ok, they are in different kind of album, different moment of Peter's path.
Elliotte,i hope you will listen to PG2 and masterpiece PG4, we can not lose any Peter's pearls. .

"Slowburn" has the best change of mood in it. It starts with ' Don't try to make it easy.' and is toped by 'shooting down.'
I love that musical figure.

Oh and since I named Big Time as my least favourite from So, I dislike Big Time for its lyrics, even if I know they are very ironic. The character in the song just seems like such a magalomaniac asshole.
But I LOVE the nstrumantal version that has some extra thick Levin bass added. It sounds ultra funky.

Burn You Up can be found in the early promo version of UP - which is not commercially available and also has different mixes of some other tracks.
It has also been released as a CD single.
But it's not
on
UP.
(And I'm writing the webteam about it :-] :-] :-]

of course Caste must be right. please forgive my simple mind for using this Discography section as a guide. thus, yes, i like the whole of Up.
for whatever it's worth, Burn You Up is one of my least favorite songs overall. i keep trying to like it, but the choir bothers me. (is choir the right word?)
oh, Jen, you are a naughty girl. :-]
