Once upon a time, back in the groovy or yucky 80's, depending on what you were listening to, you could find picture discs. I happen to own quite a few, Talking heads, The Police, Kate Bush, but my all time favorite and price possesion was PETER GABRIEL PLAYS LIVE. A color picture disc with, believe it or not, a sound quality as beautiful as the picture of Peter on the cover. Not one pop or scratch on it. I treasured it and showed it to anyone looking through my record collection. I'm sure you have noticed that I am writing in the past tense. Someone broke in and took my sound system, computer, 100cds and, yes, my Peter Picture Disc. I still think about it, now and then. SNIF. Salut from Montreal French Girlie

As a long time Peter Gabriel records collector, I was never aware that Plays Live was available as a picture disc. Was it released in Canada only? I already have an interview picture disc and some PG bootlegs in picture disc. Plays live in picture disc was certainly gorgeous. Sorry to hear that someone stole it with the rest of your stuff.

I've never heard of a PLAYS LIVE picture disc either. None of the online PG discographies have it listed. There was a picture disc version of SO though…

Are you sure there was a picture disc of SO, Alex S? I know So was released in Austria as a picture disc CD but not in 12" To French Girlie: Was your Plays Live copy in CD or in 12" vinyl?

Ah I'm getting confused, sorry! There was a picture disc CD for So, not vinyl.

Salut the garçon. It was a double vinyl disc. Bought at Dutchies in Montreal (long gone now) for about $150.00 I know I have a picture of me holding it somewhere. Give me a few days to dig it out and I will post it. Amour from Montreal

I'm very surprised to hear about this "Plays Live" vinyl Picture Disc after about 20 years of collecting PG stuff! It will be something i will definitely looking for. It must have been pressed in small quantity because i never saw it on eBay or record fairs. If you find a picture French Girlie, that would be great. Amour from Paris

I have a "picture disc" of "So". Also "Selling England by the Pound" and "the Lamb". also "The Best of UB40 Part 1" by UB40 :-] I can`t recall if I got more picture discs - those CDs always had this sticker "CD PICTURE". I also do not recall a picture disc of "Plays Live", but it sounds exiting

"Selling" and "The Lamb" were released in bootlegs Picture Disc but never officially. Remember that "SHOCK THE MONKEY" was released in UK in 7" picture disc in 1982.

there were actually 2 different boxes in the early 9oies - 1 box with "Selling England" and "The Lamb"-double CD with picture discs (but those crap booklets without the original art work/album cover). Box 2 (which I didn`t buy at that time) must have included "Foxtrott", "Nursery Crime" and "Trespass" then. I think it was September 1994 when Virgin released the 5 Genesis albums (not counting "Genesis to Revelation") with ORIGINAL covers/booklets on CD-format but with normal silver discs. There must have been more "CD-picture"-albums - also non-PG from that time - I think also Genesis "Invisible Touch", but again I think also "Labour of Love part II" by UB40:-] (hey still great stuff though).
