When would we all like to see on the upcoming 25th anniversary edition of So? Personally I think it would be nice to have a 3-disc version in a nice hardback booklet type package (like Bryan Ferry's Olympia special edition) containing: CD1: Remastered album CD2 of Bonus tracks & b-sides: - Curtains - Walk Through the Fire - Sledgehammer (single mix or other versions) - In Your Eyes special mix - Sagrada - This is the Road - No More Aparthaid (Or the bonus tracks on the album CD if they fit!) DVD: POV concert For the booklet, it would be nice to have a written history of the making of the album and something charting its global success and info on chart positions etc, plus any rarely seen photographs and alternative shots from the album cover shoot (such as the ones from the So tour programme) rather than the typical promo video stills.

Sorry, that should of course read 'WHAT would you like to see.'

A great list AlexS!I guess we have the So singles videos on 'PG -Play the videos' but producing POV on DVD would delight all us Lunatics. The same for any previously unseen photographs. Would love to see Shoshololza included somewhere.

Thanks for starting this thread - nice to read both of you. for me personally the chapter "So" in Gabriel`s career must include these elements - or at least these elements reflect the "So"-era: 1. "So" - the album. 2. video-clips (including version 2 of "Don`t Give Up"). 3. the singles of "So" (including art-work/cover) 4. the "b-sides" (including "Don`t Break This Rhythm") 5. "POV"-. . .DVD one day. 6. "Live at the Spectrum Philadelphia 1987" 7. "COnspiracy of Hope-concert/Amnesty Live May 1986" 8. alternative photo-shots from the "So"-session Actually there must be place on ONE single CD for the bonus tracks - nowadays no problem. "Curtains" as on "Big Time"-single-CD, "Don`t break This Rhythm", and more.

Is there a studio version of "This is the Road"? . . by the way,i think it's a FANTASTIC idea,it would be a great package, a great gift for us,with P.O.V. on dvd included,WOW!!

WOO! That was an AWESOME list. I'm hoping for the same thing, but maybe with some studio demos

I can't believe I forgot to list Don't Break This Rhythm!! But, So being a short album, there may be room for all the b-sides as bonus tracks. There is a studio version of This Is the Road, but it is a demo. A short clip of it was offered on the Full Moon Club as a download a few years ago.

Although the videos are clearly significant to So, I wouldn't be bothered about that as a bonus DVD - I'd much rather have the POV concert or other relevant concert film. I guess you have to remain realistic as to how many discs would be on something like this - I would say 3 at the most, judging by other anniversary reissues such as David Bowie's recent Station to Station box set. I'm really hoping that it will be a very special package rather than just a reissue with expanded artwork or whatever - at least it sounds like it's going to be special judging by Peter's own comments on it. I hope he is able to tell us a little more on the progress of this in the January full moon.

In all i hope for more concert videos in general. There were many recorded and many of them are owned by Real World.

Come on PG - more news on this please!!
Sammy The Slug 21 January 2011 at 4:31pm Posts: 1040 (0 today) Status: offline
What would be very exciting is to have alternative and unreleased studio tracks like for example this duet with Paul Mc Cartney called 'The Politics Of Love', 'Sagrada'. I remember that PG talked about a song called 'Nicaragua' but probably around the "US" album.
Cimber 22 January 2011 at 8:21am Posts: 2570 (0 today) Status: offline
"Sagrada" and "Politics of Love" - some stuff I never heard of. I remember one spoken intro by PG during a live gig for "Games Without Frontiers" about "the unneccessary 44.000 victims in Nicaragua" - a performance from 1991 - the same time while he was already performing "Don`t Give Up" with Sinead O Connor live, which many here still remember. So I can imagine he also wanted to pin down a song dealing with the topic "Nicaragua". Back to "25 years of So" - I think first of all - some 25 years after the release of the atom-bomb-album "So", the time was right to CELEBRATE, but also to "make some noise". You know music-biz is all about "promotion" and "marketing". Of course as fans of the man always welcome for us. I hope that none of us gets dissapointed with the "anniversary edition" - it could be another "remastered" edition or a "So+" in CD-format just like it was available online i think a while ago. Exspect the Unexspected

Yes, make some noise! It's a good time for nostalgia and the record buying public probably still mostly associate Peter with SLedgehammer and the So album. With PG back on the radar as of last year with SMB, I do think it's time to raise his profile even more. A single re-release perhaps?
evoulini 24 January 2011 at 2:13pm Posts: 1750 (0 today) Status: offline
I hope the release will include ALL these thing you mention, guys! Besides one can always dream, huh?
Alex S 25 January 2011 at 9:34am Posts: 259 (0 today) Status: offline
There is a LOT of stuff relating to that era waiting to come out, but for an anniversary album package, I guess we have to remain realistic. I'd say 2-3 discs at most, maybe in a digipack or nice little box set.
Gavinoski 25 January 2011 at 8:06pm Posts: 236 (0 today) Status: offline
ok being maybe the slightest bit unrealistic but. what better way to celebrate than giving the album a bit of "New Blood" after these 25 years? Imagine So done with an orchestra :-]
Mr Beef 26 January 2011 at 7:13pm Posts: 761 (0 today) Status: offline
. . .I'd just love a whole CD devoted to Sledgehammer outtakes and demos! (only joking! :-])
Alex S 27 January 2011 at 11:45pm Posts: 259 (0 today) Status: offline
The other versions of Excellent Birds could be included too. For example, this version wasn't on either So or Laurie Anderson's album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jw9-RE80EEg&feature=watch_response
Cimber 29 January 2011 at 11:08am Posts: 2570 (0 today) Status: offline
Yes, yes, yes - this version of "Excellent Birds" could make it onto that "anniversary edition". Also the single version of "Walk Through the Fire". Also the track "Out Out" from "Gremlins Part I" (all tracks from 1984). These were all songs, that were pre-cursors to the "So"-album. Beside the experimental instrumental stuff on "Birdy" (1985), these tracks gave Peter some creative space and opportunity to develope and try out new ideas and arrangements.
Fidelity 29 January 2011 at 4:25pm Posts: 313 (0 today) Status: offline
If Walk Through The Fire was redesigned a little bit, it would have been a massive hit in the 80s
