After listening to the biographical portrait on BBC 6
(thank you for the link Gavinowski)I thought a lot what the world needs now from Peter Gabriel and fits to his momentarius (new word?) own needs.
I thought in his whole life relationships played a very importend role. When I listen to the 'Scratch my back'
CD it's emotion pure. Also many of his own songs are very emotional but often ironical broken. The kind of playing Washing of the water only with piano was much more applied to strong feelings than the kind on the Hit album.
In the description of the beginning of Scratch my Back Peter declares, that he wanted simple and strong emotional arrangements. And he has a lot of songs with the theme love: even father and son.( what's about mother and son?)
No, we (women) now want an album with lovesongs we can hear before sleeping .with a calm voice .
For the boys (and if we want to dance) there could be some extra-material (as Peter Gabriel always is generous) with lovesongs in an activating way.
That are my wishes for Christmas, I hope PG can hear me.

There is actually already one "LOVE" album by PG:
- "Us" (1992) - an album about love, emotions and relationships in different facettes.
- "In Your Eyes" as another example is an excellent love-song expressing true feelings and emotions - not the usual "i love you, you love me"-stuff. If I remember it right it was guitarist Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi), who gave this comment about "In Your Eyes": ". . .the one and only true love-song".
- also on "Scratch My BAck" there is a lot of "love" and emotions with the covers "Power of the HEart" and "Book of Love" plus - "Flume", which I would describe as the anthem of dark-romantics.
- yes, there is no track or song "Mother and Son" by Peter, but therefore by a project called "Trisan" on his Real World-label.
here is a link to the track "Mother and Son" (instrumental):

You are quit right, but also wrong: I know, there are many love-songs, but I need the calm one on one CD for a better sleep and the activating on an other. In Your Eyes is also one of my favorites, but.
Mother and Son I think is not possible in our european and american culture, maybe there would not remain enough for the male psychoanalists (dear collegues).
Only in the warm feeling italy and spain, mother is hold high. Not shure whether my explanations are ernest, a bit. So Trisan is a real exception for us, not sad and
oppresiv, nein,es geht richtig gut ab.

Well, no offense. But I'm a woman and I don't need/want an album with love songs.
And why would the 'boys' only want dance songs??
There are also other kinds of music apart from love or dance songs. Especially with PG's music.
And why are you trying to talk men and women into gender specific tastes? That's ridiculous.

Well,Love is an international "subject",and i think way of talking (and translate in Music) of Love of Gabriel is so unique and never boring, never the same, never banal. . .
I try to say that you can find Love "subject" even in songs with cryptic lyrics in Gabriel production,so your idea is nice, but it's bit difficult. . . .in my opinion of course.
Music and lyrics of Peter are in a different forms, different dimension, different colours from what is commonly called "a love song".
. . . but it's a nice idea, and who knows? with Peter nothing is immobile!

For me, the love songs he has written are enough. They take love seriously and they deal with real problems and issues about love.
Besides, is there any love song more beautiful than In Your Eyes? :-]

Maybe you are right in the most of your objections. My special intend was a bit different: Sometimes I love to
wallow in one intense and warm lovefeeling. And in his last CD SMB plus, there are many songs in that way, so I thought it might be a want or state of Peter Gabriel himself. Human beeings feel different in different circumstances.
Nevertheless I love his songs because of their complexity and that is one main character of PG,which I am fond of. So I totally agree to you Dolce and Evoulini. In your Eyes I feel is also my main PG lovesong, even in the video with the lonesome lady in her sleeping suit, who begins to dance and dress up. But don't take it so earnest Soil, I am free to say what I want, if I do not hurt someone, to provocate is alloud, I believe. So dont't be sour, just laugh about it. It's fun, not ridiculous.

Rise,
I realize you especially like Peter`s latest album, which is nice to hear, but a "love-album" a la Chris de Burgh, Phil Collins or Elton John is not Peter`s cup of tea. De Burgh, Collins and John have got their well-known and good songs to classify as "love songs" from "Lady in Red" to "One More Night" and "Blue Eyes".
On the other side I would recommend the album "From Genesis to Revelation" by Genesis with Peter on vocals - I think there are a lot of songs, you would like (or maybe you got that album already).

God the Hell, I am glad, that a love-album like Chris de Burgh or so is not Peter's cup of tea. I 'm not so vain to think, my wishes have any significance for the future of PG discographie, it was only an idea which I like myself. And I am quite content with the lot of good songs of Peter I can still discover. And now I want to close the discussion for myself.

Ah i am a fan of F.G.T.R. . . . especially voice of young Peter that is so warm!

"One day" one of my favourite songs, and "A place to call my own" a song that Peter could sing even today,if he wants - imho - .
Agreed Evoulini!!
If we look at words of start of wonderful "In your eyes":
"Love,
I get so lost, sometimes
Days pass and this empitness fills my heart"
I think we could talk and talk for hours for this words,we can find a world in these few words. . . as usual with lyrics of wonderful Gabriel!!!
