I have a question - White Ashes - What is this song all about, where does it come from? Everytime I listen to it, I think about the World Trade Towers. Any other thoughts?

"White Ashes" with lyrics was played live for the first time on the last leg of the "Growing UP"-tour in 2004 all over Europe called the "STILL Growing Up"-tour. The original version of "White Ashes" is an instrumental track (plus vocals by Liz Frazer) on the album "OvO - the Millenium show" (2000). In the "story of OvO" (ACT II), a vast iron tower was built, belching out smoke and manufacturing all manner of wondrous machines. This tower was a kind of monument or try never again to be vulnerable to the dangers of nature. >>>>>> "The Tower That Ate People". This tower, described as an "evil tower" gets later on destroyed by the "skypeople" with the help of explosives from the armoury, which brought the tower crashing to the ground. There were many deaths as the metal structure fell. >>>>>>> "White Ashes".

As I understand it Dennisd63, it comes after 'The Tower that ate People' and 'Revenge' on Ovo and is about the death of Ion and the destruction of the evil tower by the SKy people. According to the story Ion builds the tower to make things from metal and to create a stable source of wealth. The Sky people either work as slaves in it or are shut out from the new wealth. There may be other ideas behind it. . .

I've never read any of the Ovo story, so that makes sense. Maybe, being a fan, I should actually read it rather than just sit back and enjoy the music. Now, take this little bit of story and related back to 9/11 - all the white ash spreading over NYC as the towers fell. It becomes a very eerie, spooky song - especially since it was released before 2001!

Yes, it's very strange that PG had a vision in 2000 of what happened 1 year later with the twin towers. He seems to have visionary skills!
