i dont know if this has already been brought up, (so if it has i will apologise now) , but i just thought i'd ask everyone which version of Here Comes The Flood do you like most? The original version from PG1 or the other version from Shaking The Tree? For me i prefer the version from Shaking the Tree. I personally think that compared to the original it sounds more natural, as if this was the way it was always meant to be. I even think think the original sounds a bit overblown compared to the latter. Dont get me wrong i do like the original though as it is sill a good song in its own right :-] so yeah which do you prefer?

The one and only rich, schmaltzy, over-produced original version on PG1. The others are nice but sound just like demos to me.

My preference is for original version on PGI. . . . . . .i think the original intention of Peter on PGI is the best, but i agree and i love too others versions, like Peter solo with piano (thanks MAK!),becuase i think any form Peter decides to give his Music, HE is the light that shines.

I actually prefer the version from Shaking the Tree. It sounds beautiful with the solo piano and without a lot of production, it really shows off PG's outstanding vocals. That being said, I think the original version fit better on PG1. I think it really adds to an album when it closes on a really powerful song (for instance, PG3 with "Biko") as opposed to a softer song. That's not to say that the piano version wouldn't have fit well on PG1 (as I've said, its my favorite version), but I think the original version fit better on the album. So just as well the the song go "over-produced" because it fit better in the end.

I love the Afrikaans version on the b-side of Biko: Jetzt Kommt Die Flut: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jj6J-g_qcro

I like them all and the song can have such different moods in the various versions, despite the common story. Must put a word in for this version on Kate Bush's show: http://youtu.be/G0GcqYGv1AA The recent Guitar Sessions version - seems to be really about acceptance to me. Not necessarily a 'perfect' version but I like the gentle take on it and also I love the piano here. http://youtu.be/TlRLvaXVyk8 I do like the GUL version too - gorgeous vocals. http://youtu.be/Ww9JS8dJ9fY

My favourite is the piano vocal version from the Growing Up DVD. It's great and I think Peter sings it better than the Shaking the Tree version, which has a dodgy line (in my humble ears) which let's down the melody (well, I'm being hypercritical but there you go!) The verse parts on PG1 are fantastic,it's just the chorus which is a little too bombastic. I think I retrospect Peter would have backed off and shown more restraint if he'd had the experience / confidence he has now. But I like all of them tbh.

I prefer 'Jetzt Kommt die Flut' just to be awkward. No I really love the atmosphere on this track.
